Pitch steel

Recommended Posts

Wore my new S300s last night, felt like I was on rails. There was too much steel on the ice for my taste and not enough forward rocker. Anyone else notice it? I remembered the same thing with my first pair, but it went away after several sharpenings.

Just get a custom radius and have the rocker shortened. Simple solution.

dude get them contoured i used the S400 too i didnt like it cuz the steel was too wide and too much of it was touching the ice and weight 190lbs, so i didnt bother setting the shit things i just got the contoured and worked from there

I figured, how much does that cost normally? $15-20?

A contour determines how much blade you have touching the ice, there is a big variete of contours too right now im using the 11 which is more for a heavier type of person because more blade is touching the ice, contrary to the 7 it has less then one inch of ur blade touching the ice, you skate faster and turn sharper which is more for a lighter smaller player. And you can get your skated sharpened at different radius'. there the normal 1/2 that you get a most sport store, then theres the more deeper one the 5/8 or the deep cut, this digs deeper into the ice give you a consistant sharp cut into the ice, altough it doesnt make ur sharpening last longer, and then i think theres the 7/16 cut which is so deep that if you slam the brakes really hard your gonna fall down and almost brake ur ankle, i tried it once and it was way too sharp so this is basics of a contour and a radius for ur skate who ever started the post i can tell them what kind of contour they should get and what radius they should get there skates done at?? so just reply and ill reply lol

The holder is alright but the blade is an issue. The Razor Blade and Razor Blade II are perforated and more liable to breakage. So far haven't had problems with mine on my Snergy 1300's or Airs even though I've taken some hard shots off of them but only time will tell. The 9' radius gives me the response and agility I look for andn doesn't seem to effect my speed to any great degree.

Wrong - Razor Bladz LPS2 steel is NOT perforated. It is cut from the top. The only perforated steel on the market is Tuuk LS2 and that Cobra steel that comes on the G series.

I could be wrong but I am quite sure that PITCh is very different than Radius. PITCH means the amount of forward or backward(or none) lean or angle that the blade is pitched at in relation to your foot. Radius is simply the turning Radius of the blade due to the rocker. So you could have a PITCH of +1 with a Radius of 9,10, 11, or up to like 13 ?. May actually be a possibility range of like 6 to 13.

Radius' all a little different with manufacturers as JR says. But I thought PITCH was a different issue and not related necessarily to the Radius.

We're talking about Mission Pitch stock steel. Pitch is the name of the holder, this named due to the ability to change relative pitch via the steel. We're answering the question of what is the stock rocker on Pitch steel.

In all fairness the scalloped steel is still not as reliable as standard steel.
