Recommended Posts

looking for a good, well built wood stick but light in weight, i know Clark Wilm had a Black Easton Wood stick once that you would swear was as light as OPS.......any thoughts or suggestions?

Easton Z-Carbon sticks are hybrids, but they are light. Sherwood makes light wood sticks. If your looking for a wood stick go with Sherwood, if you don't mind a hybrid try the Easton.

Montreal makes a wood stick with a foam core in the shaft to reduce weight. It's very light and pretty expensive.

got a sherwood 5030, coffey curve, sweetest thing i've ever used, love it compared to my synergy

really light, super easy to shelf it on snap shots and gives me the hardest slapshot i've ever had, started breaking after two session with it, so i want to pick up a new before my games this weekend

The Nike Zero G's are the lightest (IMO) I've felt but I use both the Sher-wood 5030 and Momentum (which I guess is technically a "hybrid" although most seller sites list it as an OPS)..... I'm just totally addicted to the Coffey pattern.

Sher-Wood wood sticks are nice and light. Can't go wrong with a 5030, 6000, or 7000. The 7000 is probably the best of the three, IMO. I loved mine.

I'll second that...for some reason, it feels like sher-woods are relatively light...even the 9950s feel good.

a buddy of mine creams his jock everytime a 5030 is brought up in conversation. I'm surprised he hasn't put in some input yet, but yeah appharently they're pretty good. I used to use them but Now I'm an easton composite guy.

The CCM GROOVELITE PRO is an awsome stick i.m.o.

Avaliable in STIFF, X-STIFF, and XX-STIFF.

It's a very light and quite durable sockwrapconstruction, that's got 8 drilled holes running through the woodshaft, and a fullcomposite blade..

It has several (five i believe) blademodels to chose from..

I like it a lot :)

i tried a wood stick for the first time in a while last night, just playing around with it during practice, and im thinking i like the extra weight in my hands. it just feels alot more solid. too bad not many companies make a drury type curve in a wood stick.

saddens me to think there will be generations of kids that will grow up, never using a wood stick...

not that there is anything wrong with that..

it will make for interesting old man stories..

when i was a kid.. we had to used these heavy wood sticks.... that we made ourselves..

Sherwood 5030 is the best for light weight, however they bust a bit. The CCM Vectors were a favourite too, but always snapped down where the blade is joined on. They are an awesome stick though!

How can you say it will last a player 2-4 weeks if you dont know what syle of play they play, It could last them all of one period... or 3 months..

Again it is only good to go for say the Sherwood 5030 if you can use like 85-90 flex i believe... other wise you'd have to upgrade to 7000-9950 which gets heavier.

Is the 9950 that much heavier? I used a 5030 with a bondra curve last night, and while the stick was great, my shots were sailing WAAAAY above the net. it seems to be quite a bit more open than an Yzerman that I've used all my life. Also, too much flex in the 85. I'd like a 100-110...but not too heavy..I have a Z-Carbon in 100 flex by Easton right now, but don't know if it gets much better than that.
