We just talked about this in another thread a few days ago.

Its for the little handed folk like myself.. Benifits are that its smaller, so it fits in smaller hands better allowing for a better grip and more control.

That's one of the reasons why Joe Casasanta created the Oggie Grips, because he said he used to whittle down his wooden sticks to make the handle smaller. Both of the grips (Ergo and Classic) are about 75%-80% of the thickness of composite shafts. I find the thinner handle much better, because I never get the stick knocked out of my hand while doing sweep checks due to a tighter grip.

That said, it's possible a player like Aaron Ward wouldn't like the Oggie, because it looks like he's the type of guy who keeps his pinky off the end of the stick, something that can't be done with this version of the Oggie. (Although, I bet one could whittle away the plastic at the very top to allow the pinky to "overflow.")

My hand found its way up the Ergo grip. I tried holding it right on, but found myself half off at times, which is normal for me.

I think Jason King shaves his down as well.

I never have, so my hand is always in the middle of the Ergo. Indeed, I was surprised when a friend of mine who runs a hockey school showed his surprise that I held it so low. I suppose it comes from always placing my hand beneath the knob of tape -- I never considered moving the hand partially off.

The butt end goes right in the middle of my palm. I love the sponge-y foam from oggie but I haven't had a chance to use the regular butt end.

I got my stick from a pro and it looks kinda similar (not THAT extreme..) and it can recommend it.

I prefer the Ergo, but that explains why you think you'd like the Classic Grip better....

In any case, it tapers to a point with a small knob at the end.
