Do you wear a neck protector? If not, why?

More than one of the above actually :P I have to wear one, I'm not 18 yet. But I don't. First off, it feels like shit. Second, I sweat to much wearing it, I have the feeling it blocks some of the cold air to go under my should pads you know what I mean :P ? And third, yes it looks dumb :P

Crap, I don't think I can edit that poll. I forgot to include people who have to wear them against their will.

I have heard the complaint that they get sweaty before.

i wear it, yes it is mandatory and it is uncomfortable at first but playing hockey is fun enough that i forget about the neck guard after the first couple minutes.

I reluctantly wear one because of my league. I hate it, it's so thick and barely fits around my neck. I had a neckguard shirt which was better, but wear UA now instead.

I think I'm most worried about a puck to the throat. So when I'm trying to screen the goalie, I just bow my head down and try to use my face cage to shield my neck. Anybody else do that?

I wear one because I remember seeing that Clint Malarchuk footage from when I was kid, I will never NOT wear one for that reason. Ya it feels like shit and everything but I have had to wear one forever so its not something new I have to get used too.

Most of the neckguards that people use would not prevent a cut like Malarchuk's. They're a lot better at absorbing impacts from pucks or sticks.

Won't the kevlar neckguards prevent cuts?

How can those soft neckguards absorb impact from a puck? I always thought the opposite, and definitely correct me if im wrong, that the neckguard wouldn't do much for direct impacts but were somewhat cut resistant.
