Why no Response Armors?

Recommended Posts

Usually each year you see companies get their players into their latest and greatest at the end of the season to get used to the products before playoffs.

Right now I have seen basically all the companies' new sticks in the NHL with the exception of the Response Armor (Easton, Mission, RBK, etc). Has anyone seen any NHL'ers with the new TPS twigs?

This won't influence my decision to purchase one, I am just curious as to why they aren't more prevalent among TPS users.

SOme players might be a little hesitant to start using a new product for the playoffs. I am sure that you will see more players using them next season.

Domi used one the last few games.

To answer the question, it is probably because the guys who you think would switch are just that sold on the XN10 or R+. I mean they didn't switch for the Adrenaline, why switch for the Armour?

EDIT: Maybe the colour of the non-grips is an issue? Perhaps some are made up to look like what the players was using, just an idea.

I know Gomez still uses his XN10. Afenigenov (sp?) uses an Adrenaline. I think it's just a matter of people who actually use TPS just want to stay with what they have and the other seldom people who use TPS are out of the playoffs.

The Response Armour is similar to an Endure in construction, design, and weight. Maybe the pros were more comfortable with the lighter OPS from TPS. I ordered them in Junior only, since the Senior Endures were a bit slow to sell in the shop. The Reponse Armour does look great, though.

No kidding on the Sr Endures.. what a bust that stick was. Luckily I only bought 2 dozen, but I still have 22 left. Dust collectors for sure.

probleme is: the endure is maybe promouving durability but it is still pretty heavy for a 200$ stick. I would rather buy a ST grip or even vapor XX-XXX than an Endure for the same price!!

I really like how he shaft feel, grip, handle, flex, price isnt bad, but i can't stand 310-320gram shaft when i'M playing with well-balanced shaft for like 2 years now...

This is more information about the Response Armor OPS direct from my TPS rep. This will help clear up the differences between the Response Armor and the Endure. It will also address the XN10 issue.

"I'm also seeing that misconception that the Response Armor is not as light

or "good" as the XN10. The Armor is still made with XN10 Carbon. We just

changed the texture of the shaft, and added the grip to the Armor Control.

The BIG difference between this and the Endure is that the Endure had some

kind of mesh material in the slash zone. The Armor has a sheet of Kevlar in

the slash zone which is dramatically lighter."

So I was incorrect about construction of Response Armor compared to Endure and the fact that the Response Armor is actually much lighter than the Endure. Just wanted to get the facts straight.

are the shaft wit the name armor have the same construction as the ops?

A ligther version of the endure shaft with grip is what i'M looking since a long time lol... let just say that the SL isn't the most durable shaft LOL!

I checked the catalog. The descriptions are the exact same for both the OPS and the shaft. The shaft takes the R2 tapered hosel replacement blades. You're in luck!

I take it that the Response Armor is still going to be heavier than the Response XN10, just not by much (the Kevlar sheet in the slash zone). Now I get why it's called the "Armor". I'm curious about the new texture (the dimple effect) on the shaft now, and how it will feel, especially on the grip version.

Back to the original question - TPS's pro sticks are made in Canada and the Response Armor is made in the Orient. They cannot do the same paint job in Canada.

I own the R2 armor control. It's a pretty light shaft...almost as light as my old yellow R2. The grip on the control models is really diff from most...u can barely tell its there. As for the golfball texture I don't notice it at all.

JR is right though the paintjob takes some time to get used to.
