Fifteen and a half friday and I'm going in so i can get my permit. I have heard from some people the test is simple and all you need is common sense but some people I know heard the same thing went in and failed. I dont know how the tests differ from state to state but I'm in Ohio and was wondering what you think should i bother studying or how should i prepare for this?

Im in Ontario but I imagine you theres a book you can get. I plan on reading it once through and then reading important parts again in the lineup before the test.

If it's anything like the one in MI, It's very easy. If you paid attention in class you should be fine. If you slept though it, skim over the book the night before. Most of it is very basic.

I'm in OH. The test was pretty simple...I honestly kept hitting the skip button on the computer :D. I didn't study and passed easily...cause of the skip button, heh. But if you do study...try to remember to study the Points System for when you get pulled over.

im in nova scotia, i read half the book then did the online test about 400 times i passed.

I hate New Jersey. Only state where you gotta be 16 to get your permit. Ugh.

nope, you have to be 16 to get your permit in PA. Where it differs I believe is we can get our license at 16 1/2, whereas you're at 17 in NJ, correct?

Here in ohio they have either passed or are proposing a law that will make the age 16 to get their permit and 16 1/2 for the liscense if it has/will be passed it will only be effective for those born after 1990 since i was born in november of 90 i just barely dodged that bullet. I just basically read the whole manual booklet but skipped some parts i took the review test at the end and got 9/10 i think i should do ok.

I actually thought they were pushing the law up to 18 in OH. Oh well, I'm not affected :P

Anyways like I say, take the computer test and keep hitting skip if you don't know the answer. It's like 25 questions for law, 25 for signs and signals. Hitting skip, you'll get another question dealing with law for example if you don't know anything about the points system..the swapped question would deal with parking law or something like that. Skip till you know the answer ;)

Don't get my permit untill June. You have to be 16 to get a permit here too., Then six months untill you are able to get you license, if you passed driving school.

Geez, the permit test in PA is only 18 quetions total, and your allowed to miss three. Thank god!!

in the uk u gotta be 17

In Canada its 14 for learners which you have to have for atleast a year to get your licence. You can get a GDL licence when your 16 if you have held your learners for ayear. Then you have to wait two more years with your gdl and do another driving test to get your full licence

Im in Ohio too...I dont know what all this talk is about skipping questions and stuff. I had a written, mulitple choice test that I had to go to the office to take to get my permit. Its not to hard, but make sure your careful reading the questions...they arent worded very well.

Oh yeah..my bad...forgot to say I'm in Columbus. I had to go all the way downtown cause the BMV in the subuarbs don't admin. tests. So I get down there and they had a couple desks and a huge bank of touch screen computers. You had the option of computer or written. On the computer, there's a skip the questions button.

I live in Springfield, Ohio and here I dont think there even is a choice everyone I know who has taken it did it on computers.

computer test was a joke when I took it I think you have to get 34 right to get your permit, I only had to answer 35 questions before it passed me. Some of them are sorta stupid like the school bus stopped with no lights on or whatever. I might have skimmed the book, but you definitely don't have to read it. Best of luck on your test and then the fun of learning manuverability (stupid thing).

Well the permit test wasnt really that hard passed that and i just know got home from driving the car home for the first time I was a little nervous but i made home fine.
