I was going to make a topic about that. I wonder if they make a XXX shaft or it's just painted like that.

Probably the VDS blade from the pulse

Actually, no. The Mission gfx on the Pulse blade is smaller. Also notice the Flying M on the toe. It is either an old Mission composite blade or a wood. Gator used Bauer woods for a long time, so I am leaning towards wood.

Looks like the toe is discolored, wood it is.

I may be wrong but that kinda looks like part of the Mission "M" at the toe.

Brendan Morrison used to use one of those a while back, but I think we dismissed that as being a painted over vapor XV. He had an Easton T-flex blade in it, so it could be tapered.

here is a pic, sorry for the size

The white M does not continue on to the vertical edge on the toe, where it is a yellow-brown color.

He was a t-flex user for a long time, hence the belief that he was using a tapered shaft.

question is, was that a painted over t-flex because bauer was possibly trying to endorse him.. or was it really one of the first xxx lite shafts, that is if they exist?

keep in mind this was taken like back in december

In Germany you can buy XXX standard shafts, have a XX standard shaft myself. (51' 290g flex102, no-grip, standard shape/little boxy)

The XXX shaft has the same specs, but has been repainted to fit the current top OPS model. They are really nice shafts and retail for around 125euro in some German onlineshops.

And Standard Bauer shafts do say 0.620 at the buttom.

There was a topic on this a while back, possibly the Morrison topic.

It's composite. They have some at a LHS.

so is this shaft just a vapor x/xv? or is it really an xxx shaft?

It ain't a X/XV shaft, one of my teammates has the X shaft while I have the XV in my basement, next to the XX shaft.

They don't feel alike at all, due mostly to the stick'um grip found on the X & XV + the wheelhandle barrel on the X.

However my XX shaft doesn't feel like the shaft itself of a XX OPS, so it's a niche product IMO.

Repainted something somethings, maybe Inno 1100's? They are the ones that come closest in feel and shot. (again IMO)

I can't speak for the products in the NHL, since many of them are redressed products for retail exposure, plus they can get special shaft shapes, dimensions, etc. But for college and pro/national teams, tapered and standard shafts were released with Vapor XX and XXX Lite logos. Those particular tapered shafts were indeed dressed up retail Vapor XV shafts, and the standard shafts were retail Vapor Xs.

(commenting on the original picture)

Honestly, the best part about any picture is seeing the crowd. Its obvious that a goal is comming.... yet everybody looks as serine as if they were watching a symphony play a quiet song.. ITS THE STANLEY CUP FINALS! I WOULD KILL FOR A TICKET..... IN THE NOSEBLEED SECTION!

the only person who is reacting is that fat bald guy in front... who at best has a look on his face like he saw his first pair of breasts on a girl.

nice White Thick tongue on Brind'Amours skates. I do think every skates should come with a white tongue.

theres no point if you put your shinpads over

you are right Yglod, but if you put it out, it is white and if you put it in, it changes nothing. It's really rare IMO that a black tongue looks better on skates.
