Domi Leafs Infamous Video

Recommended Posts

trust me i'm not going to go buy top end gear when i don't play that good. my skates and gloves are the only two items that cost very much. i know how guys feel about beginners wearing better gear than they have.

yeah i took 200 shots the past 3 days, its helping a lot. i have been doing what you said (lower, wider) and trying too imitate other guys. for the record i played a season of roller with a ball, i was great, i could put the ball anywhere i wanted to. i'm just getting used to using a puck.

Even if you would have ALL top end equipment, why would anyone be hating you for that, I mean if you can afford it and hockey is what you like the most, why would you buy lower-end equipment just because you are no the best out there, It's just stupid. I call them jealous. Sure if the same guy is thinking he's the best out there and never change at pick-up, it's another story, but it's not because he got high-end equipment that this guy is stupid...I hope you guys know what I mean.

Keep it up Domi Leafs, Try looking at videos of Sakic, Kovalev and Naslund on youtube.com. Those guys all have heck of a wrist/snap shots, so by looking at their techniques, you'll improve as much and even more than if you would shoot with the wrong technique.

thanks kovy...

so i guess i should work on putting it low before i try to lift it... when i roll my wrists it goes too high on me. i keep hitting the crossbar.

i never said i had xxx-lite pants. i just said i "loved them" they look really nice to me. for the record i have 652 tacks pants and a set of synergy 300 pads and a 652 tacks helmet. i only paid around 200 for the whole setup.

Remember to shift your bodyweight. I can never stress that enough when I'm coaching kids shoot properly. Shift from your back foot to front to get the most power in your shot.

like slapshot hehe

ya like the others said, shift bodyweight, have your feet not facing the net, and roll the wrists. with practice it will work out, as my shot accuracy has really improved from off ice training

It's good to hear that you're a good skater, that's what's most important (maybe that's how he made AAA?). Just work on your shooting with proper technique and you should be getting better. Maybe you should give us a video of your wrist shot, since that will be the shot that you will undoubtedly be using the most, no matter what position you play. Then we can work with you on your technique on that, if you're willing.

EDIT: It's not so much rolling the wrists as it is turning your blade over. If you're focusing on keeping it low, your follow-through should be ending up around waist high with the blade turned over. At least, that's how I've been taught to keep the puck low, and it works for me.

yes i made the aaa team quite easily at tryouts. unfortunately the aaa team has since been cancelled due to lack of funding so i will be playing rec league this fall and high school in the spring. should give me plenty of practice time.

i might make another vid if i have time monday. it actually all started to click for me today when i quit looking at the puck and just focused on where i wanted to put it. i found myself using my legs and back alot more, instead of just sweeping with my upper body. i was putting it in the top corners with a waist-high follow through, so i think i'm getting better already.

one reason i posted the video was to get some feedback hopefully, i just got those pucks about a week ago and i wanted to shoot correctly instead of picking up bad habits.

Sounds good. Keep it up. I'm surprised there was a lack of funding for any AAA team, it's quite strange that a AAA organization would run out of funding. Just keep working on your shooting and it should improve.

I'm sorry if you've already said it, but what curve are you using on your stick?

well i like using a sher-wood coffey.

my mom sent the gloves and the synergy (modano) and i planned on showing her the vid so i used the modano in the video.

but like i said i always practice with a coffey and use that on ice as well.

If you continue working properly (not necessarily hard) on your shot, and use the tips from the other posters, your shot will probably be decent by the end of the summer and even better by next year.

You can make another vid in a few weeks' time, and I think you will have improved more than you thought you realized by then.

I know your a beginner but damn! My back was hurting watching those shots. Even the real domi doesn't shoot like that. B) lol Just work on technique, not strength. Eventually it will start to come naturally.

This guy obviously didn't make a AAA team, come on... <_<

This video hurts to watch.

Maybe he meant that AAA sponsors a team and he plays for them.

must be, because no offense man but with your current shot there is no way you could make a AAA team unless you compensated with lightening fast speed or ridiculous size for your age....even then it would be doubtful.
