I'm pretty happy the Lightning got Kuba, still makes me sad that we lost Kubina but this lessens the blow.

I still think the Devils might be in trouble Mack w/ the Malakov and Mogilny contracts counting against them.  it's going to be hard to sign guys like Gomez and Gionta next year I believe.

Those contracts are killing them and odds are they're going to lose one of those two as well. Thing is though they're still kind of used to losing people and someone will come up and help out. Either that or maybe they'll buy into the "take less and stay here" plan. Doubtful, but here's hoping.

As for the Elias deal and him being 37 making that much, who's to say he won't be as effective as Sakic is at this age?

Edit: Nashville's paying a good sum for Arnott, but they've never had size up front. Plus he has playoff experience and that's one thing they desperately need from people in the locker room.

It looks more and more like the Habs aren't gonna get anyone. Just please get a centre so you get ride of Riberio

Wow, with the way the B's are signing, they may be a team to reckon with next season :o

I haven't finished reading this thread yet, but after reading your post the only thing I thought to myself was:

Good signings- but their head coach is still Dave Lewis- meaning they'll get bounced in the first round.

I don't think people give Lewis enough credit. Detroit fans need a scapegoat after every non-cup winning season. Lewis happened to be their scapegoat a couple years ago.

Also, he had some pretty big shoes to fill.

edit: my phrasing

haha Dallas got hosed by taking on the Lightning's burden, Sydor.

Why did we take that guy back? Dallas already has 7 defensemen signed, we don't need another overpaid one on the team. The only hope I see, is the possibility that this is setting up a trade to get rid of Niinimaa(sp?).

if it makes you feel better you only gave up a 4th round pick, lol.

you guys got BURNED!

If Dallas got rid of Niiminaa then I wouldn't fell so bad about the deal. Sydor is overpaid, but we didn't give up much to get him and he's better than Niiminaa. I really hope that Dallas has a plan. We've got 8 defensemen now. They can't all stay.

IDK, did you see Sydor this season? He was definitely in over his head, he used to be one of the better defensemen in the league... now he's just too old. Unless he works really hard on his conditioning he will continue to be just a dead weight in your system.

He can't be any worse then Niinimaa. Plus he use to play for the Stars, so the familiarity could help him get back in shape and regain his old form. I think he would do well paired up with Zubov.

You'll be calling him "plyon" just like us Wild fans used to...

Why in the HELL is Vancouver paying Mitchell 4mil/yr? I guess they saw something the Wild never did.
