Sprung Hockey

Recommended Posts

i have played roller all my life and im thinking about getting one of these chasis, i tryed the rocker chasis a while back and it destroyed my skating to the point of when i go a normal chasis i skated alot faster and alot smoother. i have never played ice so that most likely didnt help but i dont want to waste my money like i did then. so would you guys recommend this chasis for a roller only player. i weigh 220 if that will help make the choice. also how much should i be looking at for these and are they hard to mount? thanks for the help

Well there's a hundred and forty some odd pages on here praising the crap out of these chassis. I've talked to a couple guys in person and they praised them. So I'm sold. I ordered mine on Saturday I believe, so I can't wait to get them mounted up and check out the difference. If you have nay doubt check out all the previous pages on here.

I played my 1st game of roller in ages yesterday. No one but me has the Sprungs in my city. Its bizzare, becasue quite clearly I have an jump on the oppo. with these great frames. Moreso I can replicate some of my ice manuevuers on them and make the transition as seemless as possible.

Guys give me crap about them because the frames look bizzare (even I thought they did when I 1st got them) but they see how I turn and cut and they eventually go quiet. Quiet hockey are a rarity in these parts, that's a testament to Keith's hard work on these amazing frames.

I spread the word as much as I can but at the end of the day I guess some ppl are just happy with their slow old trucks v's me zipping around the rink in a turbo WRX. ;)

I don't think the frames look "bizarre." They look different, but that's ok. In black they looks badass, IMO.

I agree they look really good when you dye them different colors. Although the white ones remind me a lot of the look of an ice skate. I really like them in different colors though. And I do think that black might look best.

Sprungs are DEFINATELY worth the money. Only problem is they are addictive. I have the A6 chassis and now I want the A8 but its hard to justify 2 pairs.

I'm not too fussy when it comes to bearings so I'll leave that recommendation to someone else, but as far as the spacers go you'll need floating spacers. The Torspo package on the Sprung site comes with Sonic spacers. They look like the same spacers I picked up last year for my other Sprung setup and the ones on my outdoor pair and none of the spacers have given me any issues. You may want to just email Keith, buy the spacers from him and let him ship them to you with the chassis - I had a hard time finding the right spacers locally in Toronto, but that may not be an issue for you in California.

Thanks....I emailed Keith. Hopefully he can let me know before he ships the package out to me.

I think Inlinewarehouse has them though if worse comes to worse.

Alright, I'll tear open the package and send them along so you can build your wheels. You owe me, man!

Keith:

I have been reading the Sprungs thread, and have decided to try something new and purchase a set of Sprungs. I used to play in MLRH a couple years ago, and usually hesitant to try new things, but I heard a lot of good things about your product. I am a bit laid up right now, with a broken leg, but as soon as I am healed up and ready to skate I am putting a set on my 9500's. What would you suggest, A6 or A8's? Besides the wheel size, is there a difference in the chassis? Would I need a Large or Medium? As I said, I wear Mission 9500's, size 8D. I am 5'9", and about 175 lbs. I tend to be pretty hard on my skates when I'm skating. Also, I play D on occasion and block a LOT of shots. Any issues with that?

Another issue that I read about is that there is a possibility that I might lose a bit of quickness. Any truth to that at all? I am slow enough as it is, can't afford that!! :P I appreciate the time. I can't wait to get them, and to dye them!

Thanks,

Chris

Since you are out of action for a bit you could wait around for the medium 80's to come out. Just a thought.

Is there a difference between the medium and large A8's other than the size boots they fit? For example, would a medium A8 work on a size 11 boot? Or would you need a large A8?

Overall length of the chassis and the overall wheelbase will be different between the two sizes.

The A6 is a medium size only and uses all 76mm wheels. The A8 is a large size only and uses all 80mm wheels. There should be a medium size A8 in the near future.

Ok. So, besides the wheel size, what is the difference between the A8 and A6 frames? Anything?

Keith,

I ordered my sprungs from you on Saturday. What day do you think I should expect them to get to me here in Cerritos, CA. Just a little anxious to get them set up. The reason I ask is that I'm getting a new boot to put them on and I'm trying to get them at the same time. Thanks again Keith your the best.

Hey guys,

I'm going to dye my sprungs when I get them on Friday. Just wondered if anyone has ever mixed 2 colors of dye together to make another color. I'm not trying to do anything fancy, just thought maybe I could do a dark charcoal grey or something. Anyone try this???
