Argh....and I just dyed my A8's today and now read this....now I kinda wish I would have waited. Keith, what are the benefits on the shorter wheelbase on the A7's as opposed to the A8's?

The A8 is dead on for your 11.5D boots. 11 will most likely be the crossover from A7 to A8. The A7 has been sidelined while I've been doing patents, but is getting back into the schedule, now. We're looking at mid September for the first samples.

What about a 10 in a NBH skate? That's what I will likely go with....

EDIT - I just saw this pic of a NBH 10D with an A8 and the wheelbase doesn't look "too" long. I think I'll be ok.

gee2626, those look sweet...

How does it perform? I've thought of doing the same conversion, but have stuck to the Torspos that I got from Keith.

They perform wonderfully! I personally prefer a stiff boot with the sprungs and these do the job quite well. Not the lightest setup, but very, very comfortable.

Gee2626, 5HoleMadman, those are sick looking setups. I really like the white on white. :)

You guys are making me pissed I can't skate for a few more months!!! :(

I have to say that after reading all your posts on here about the Sprungs I was still a bit weary that they would be all you said they were.

Well I have only skated on them a little for recreation to test them out.

I have to say that I am very impressed. Now I have only skated on them just a bit but already they feel so comfortable. That's a weird thing to say about a frame, but in this case it's true. I was a bit bummed in the beginning because my back wheel on the right skate was making this horrible sound when my weight would shift to the back. After about a half hour of testing I figured out that it was the wheel and not the frame. Not sure why it makes that sound, but with some labeda wheels the sound stops. So it's the wheels.

Another plus is the softness that it has on my knees. After having a knee injury about 7 years ago, I'm always nervous about my knees. These frames are so easy on the knees it's insane.

Well, I have to say that I too am now a Sprung fan. Thanks to Keith for a great product.

Those Boss' skates look great....I have never actully seen any sprung frames at any of the rinks around me...I wish I had some extra cash to drop on a set to try out...

My newest conversion:

img54071rw8.th.jpg

This skate with Sprungs looks totally natural to me, whereas, the aluminum frame looks anachronistic on their new ultra modern-boot.

It has often been pointed out to me that no matter how many HI-LO and Humm'r and ice converts there are, at all levels of play all over the world, Sprungs are not used by a single top US Company sponsored player. Missions and RBK/CCMs with Humm'rs are not uncommon on Poster players. We seem to have missed this entire generation of excellent US players with a product that provides them with absolutely no performance value of any kind. I have no idea where they all tried Sprungs, but I'm sure glad there's only about 200 of these guys. ;)

Jr, There's a symbol glitch on my load-up, that we can't hack out, that sends any attempt to get to the home page into a continuous load cycle. Can't access from here or from scratch. This has been there since you came back up from the recent crash.

Keith, try going to "My Controls" at the top of the screen, then go to "board settings" and uncheck "auto correct DST."

Thanks, I'll ask my IT person to try that. But funny you should post right now, cause about ten minutes after I tried on your 195s, which fit me perfectly, a Yettie stole them! Sorry, man, what could I do?

Wow, thanks, the DST thing really worked! The boots didn't fit, so he left them and took a whole new bag of cat crunchies.

Keith, Once my ONE90's arrive Im gonna hook up my current babies to the Sprungs you sold me 18 mths ago. They are Vapor XX boots and Im wondering is there anything in particular that I should be aware of in order to have them mounted by the shop monkeys over here. We just recently lost our best mounter and his apprentice is Green to put it nicely.

alright guys i've had my sprungs for a few weeks now and after skating in them 5 times i think it's time for a review.

First skate

at least for me the transition from my tri-di to the sprungs only took 2 skates but that could be that i was already used to my old vibe which is similar in a way. i do remember that my hamstrings were hurting a bit after the first skate because it felt like i was skating with a wider stance.

skating forward

this one i got right off the bat at crusing speeds and it wasn't until i went hard that i noticed something different. It felt like my front wheel was hitting something before the end of my stride and wouldn't let me get to my top speed. by changing my technique and skating like i was on ice by widening my stride out so that it wasn't as "choppy" fixed that problem. i don't get as many strides out now while accelerating but each stride gives me a little more push.

skating backward

I have to say that anyone trying sprungs for the first time in a game situation should not be playing defence. It took me 2 skates to fully get my backward skating down and i consider myself a very good backward skater. first you have to remember that there is some give to the front wheel so when you lean on your front wheels you will feel it. it's like someone giving you a little push from the back as your skating backwards which will make you want to fall forward. the best way of describing this would be how i felt when i turned for the first time on my vibes. it's a weird feeling but i got used to it fast and now i wouldn't say i'm any better at skating backwards on the sprungs but i am certain that i'm not any worse either.

turning

Turning with the sprungs was just pure magic and made me remember my good old vibes but better. my turns were much sharper like my old vibes but unlike my old vibes i find during the sharp turns i was able to sustain my speed much better where is my old vibes would lose that speed in a hurry. with this new advantage i was now able to leave my checkers in the dust by simply doing a sharp turn away from them due to the fact that they would either have to come to a complete stop or lose a lot of speed in order to change directions using the same space or radius that i had to work with. only had a small problem with my forward and backward cross over at first and it was mainly due to the fact that sprungs had a longer wheel base then my vibes or tri-di so on a few occasions my wheels hit each other. it wasn't enough of a problem would make me fall but it was noticeable, it still comes up a few times during a game but it's getting better as i get more used to the sprungs. On the power side i would say that i get more power per stride during my cross over due to the fact that the sprungs keeps your wheels on the ground just a little longer then your traditional chassis would. Another thing i would like to mention is that i'm a playmaker so what i do often is to skate hard into the zone towards the half boards do a hard 360 turn (not hard enough to be a spin-orama) and make a play to the 3rd or 4th man joining the rush. With the sprung turning ability i am now able to buy myself just a little more time and space to work with which in itself is gold!

weight

first i would like everyone to know that i my VERY picky about the weight of my equipment. i am one of those who buys the same stuff because i'm used to the weight and can't get used to using anythign else, i can feel the difference holding one hornet and a 816 wheel in each hand, i have many stick blades that i've used only once but didn't like because of the weight, i use only the redlite xn10 shaft because i can't find a replacement that weights the same. so coming from a mag chassis this was one of the bigger negatives of the sprungs for me. The chassis itself was definitely heaver then what i had but part of it was also the fact that i had to use 4 rinkrat hornets instead of an all rink rat 816 setup because i didn't have that many 76mm 816's sitting around. I use a CCM PF10 boot which isn't the lightest boot out there but is still considered one of the lighter ones out there so putting the sprungs on made my setup bottom heavy and didn't feel balanced. It's not a heavy as my old vibe which i'm sure would be a nightmare for me to use now but it's something i'm getting used to. I did find that i had to tie my skates a little harder then i'm used to because being bottom heavy it made my boot feels loose up top. I am wondering if the new version sprungs are any lighter then the old version sprungs though because i did buy mine off a friend.

conclusion

Is it ALL good like many have said here, no, there are a few flaws to the system mainly the weight. I've also found the rocker arm on the back has had some contact with the floor and you can clearly see wear starting to happen which tells me that there either isn't enough clearance while i'm doing my turns or while stopping. Keith i will say this, "Thank you for bringing me back my Vibes", for those who know me around here knows that is the highest praise i could give to any chassis out there! Simply put, the Sprungs has made me a better player.

Wow, thanks! And are my eyes deceiving me or are those actually the old close-out model? If so, there's another whole big jump in performance awaiting you. :) :) :)

Hey Keith. Did you get my email about the invoice? I can pay when you're ready....I was hoping you could ship them back to me soon so I can try to skate on them on Saturday, but if not, no worries. If you do ship them today I would like them shipped to my work but if you can't ship them until tomorrow, I would like them shipped to my house because the post office doesn't deliver to my work on Saturdays. Let me know, thanks!

PS - I tried PM'ing you but your inbox was full.

no, thank you^^ i just can't believe it took me so long to make the switch. Just what kind of performance big are we talking about and would it be a lighter chassis?

Hey shute, what size skates are those?

it's CCM size 7 or i wear a size 8 - 8.5 nike shoe, why does something look off with the mount?

I dont think its so much the weight, but more the whole chassis being more robust! You can feel the difference...

The skates look spot on, just wondering what size they were thats all...

Nope. I was just walking by Coliseum or Pond and thought those frames looked familiar. Play in a high tier?
