Keith,

Is the medium A8 still in the works and if so how far out are they ?

I emailed Keith regarding this question recently. He said they're about two months away from the first samples.

Sprung's ready to invade France :)

Keith has mounted a pair of A6 on a Mission Pure lite boot for me, so that I could test them for rollerhockeyfrance.com, the main in-line hockey site in france.

I spoke about that test I was going to make with my teammates, and my captain was very interested in it too, so he spoke with Keith too, and he was sent 2 pair of sprungs on Torspo for him and his girlfriend.

Now, this summer, sprungs will be advertised on rollerhockeyfrance.com (by the way Keith, have you found the time to answer my questions for the interview or should I send you another mail with them?) and also be seen on Yoann Jalinier of the Frenchies at Narch (my captain on our team in France) and on Marina Fagoaga both at the FIRS world championship in Germany for France's women team and at Narch for the Frenchies' women's team too.

Watch out ! Spung's invasion coming on !

Here are mine : Sprung A6 on Mission pure lite

Since I'm right after those beauties that I've actually had in my mitts, I won't quote it. Wow, the reflective white is like a hole in space live and in the photograph. Makes me want a whole boot that is Vacuum White Scotch Glow or whatever that stuff is.

My partner, Joe Noris will be in Phlly the first four days with Team USA, and then off to Germany with same. I was going to be there, but can't go cause I have too much patent stuff to do and all my extra time is somewhere else right now. We will be represented by our Beautiful Ace Jersey Table Cloth on a table in the AAU section. There should be cards and flyers and maybe some samples on the table, but probably more equipment and butts. If you're there and you have on your Sprungs, you can lord it around like the table's yours. It already has a hot glue burn hole dead center front. Sticks gotta get fixed!

There's a good chance of showing up at NARCH, but only as a spectator.

The M-A8 is closer. So are our OEM prospects.

Hey JR, I think I did pretty good, and didn't call or email you once while you were down. A good friend in intensive care who got better. Are you gonna be at NARCH?

Here it goes 1st post.....

Thinking of getting the Torspo Surge 221 and am trying to figure out the sizing no info on Sprung or the Torspo website. Hockey World says they are true to shoe size but hate to order them from Keith and have sizing issues. In AZ no LHS has them for sale so that option is out. Any insight would be much obliged

I went through the same dilemma before ordering them as I don't know of any local shops that carry the Surge 221's...I emailed Torspo, but didn't hear back. Both Keith aka Sprungster and Spreedizzle helped me out there. I have KOR Shift 1 skates and love the fit after they're molded to my feet - I have an 8.5D in them and ordered the same size in the Torspo 221's after exchanging a few PM's with Spreedizzle since he also has the Shift 1's and Torspo's. The sizing of the Torspo's is pretty well dead on with the Shift 1's although the forefoot area does feel pretty tight at the moment, but I haven't had a chance to take them to a store to get them baked just yet...I hope after the bake they should be the same as the KORs. Although I remember baking the KORs at 200 for 10-12 minutes and the Torspo instructions say 175 for 5 minutes so I hope the mold as well as the KORs.

Now, if you don't have KOR Shift 1's or haven't tried them on that probably doesn't help you that much. I take a 10W dress shoe and leave a little room at the end and wear a 10.5 running shoe and leave about a thumb width of room at the end. My feet are aroud 10.5 inches long and 4.5 inches wide at the widest point. Based on the skates I've tried on and what I've read here I'd say the Shift 1's and Surge 221's are about 1 size larger lengthwise then Nike Bauer One90s and One95s, RBK skates, Nike Flexlites and CCM Vectors so if you have the correct size in one of those skates or can try on a pair of those then you'll want to go one size up from there. For example, based on a friends 7.5D One90s I tried on I'd say I'd need a 7.5EE One90 (although I'm not sure if that would be deep enough or the right fit, but I'm pretty sure on the length), I've also tried on CCM Vectors in a 7.5E and would say that'd be the right size for me. The Surge 221's are the perfect length for me before being baked with my toes right to the end without being crushed or curled...I might have been able to go with the EE instead of the D as I do have a fairly wide forefoot, but I also have a narrow heel and know that the 8.5D Kors fit me well after being baked so stuck with the D's in the Surge 221's. I won't know if that was a wise choice until after I bake them and wear them (which I won't get a chance to do until a game next Sunday).

I hope that helps. You can also do a search on the Shift 1 skate for more sizing info and other opinions as the sizing does seem to be the same on the two skates.

If you are able, post up some pics of the booth Keith, for those of us so far away and curious as all hell to see what it will look like.

It would be much appreciated. :)

As Wabbit says, I can be got via keith@sprung-inline.com

Here are my new skates, just baked to perfection. At least for skating around the living room. They molded really well, and the laces aren't pulled tight in the picture. They molded right over to my foot as did the whole foot top and lower outside front. Very comfortable and responsive along with a great pitch.

Joe just baked his again and next night played in games four hours straight. Says they were perfect. I know he also really likes the pitch. He's testing a new Labeda wheel on his which was a little hard for me on his rink which is the hardest of all of them down here. His rink, his wheels, his 225 lbs. I only weigh 155. This Revision set up is working good for me so far.

An important hint for everybody baking their skates. Make sure the laces are loose enough for you to slide your foot in without touching the tendon guards. I know this, but it is way tempting to grab them like normal. What mostly happens is you pull their insides apart and shorten their life big time. If you want them long and floppy, this is probably the way. These are 10.5's.

And the picture :)

So I did two hours in these for my first skate and they are Way OK. Very comfortable if not invisible and the pitch is very very comfortable too. I stopped when my socks were soaked and avoided any blisters, which is OK, too. After skating some I cranked them up tight and no problems except below my left inside ankle where one more baking or hot air gun specifically placed will take care of that easy. Very predictable, since they are stiff enough to make the frames do all the work, and the frames take the edge off the Stiff boot. On the insides of these are very accurate, comfortable casts of my feet.

Keith,

I was looking at your website and saw the package deal for the Torspo skates. I'm very interested, just curious as to the size of the boots. I know I have a wide foot so the EE is a must. I skate on a size 10 Easton right now with a shoe size of 11.5. What is the coversion to Torspo's. Thanks again. I'm very excited to try out your frames. The guys here seem to just keep praising them.

You'd wear a 10EE in the Torspo too. They are pretty much the same length and width sizing as Bauers, so their D is wide. And though they fit the A8 just right, some have been set up with A6's on request. I used A8's on mine and here they are with black frames. The 11's at bottom are the way they come with white frames and Revisions.

Do you sell the sprung's in black or is it just a prototype or something? I think you have a new customer either way. I also sent you an email about testing some out.

I have to respectfully disagree with you Keith regarding the Torspo's being the same size as Bauers. I've tried on a teammates 7.5D Bauer One90s and they're the right length for me (although a bit narrow and probably not deep enough). I'd say the Torspo's are actually one size up from the One90 or One95's and .5 size up from the Vapor XX's.

I have the size 8.5D Torspo's I bought off you and my feet completely fill them with no negative space...there's no way I could get into a smaller size. They're the same size as my 8.5D Kor Shift 1's and fit pretty well the same although I'd say the KORs have a little more internal padding, the top eyelet is a little higher on the Torspo's (I'll probably skip that) and the tendon guard is higher. I have a wide forefoot (about 4.5 inches across on a 10.5 inch long foot) and was concerned when I first tried them on before baking that they were too narrow in the forefoot (the heel and ankle felt great, but the forefoot was very tight), but I've since had them baked at a LHS at 175 for 5 minutes as per the Torspo instructions in the box. Now they're less tight, but still a little tighter in the forefoot than my KORS...but I baked my KORS for 10-12 minutes at 200 and stood up and did Squats while they were cooling as per the KOR instructions I was sent 2 years ago. So the Torspo's were baked at a lower temperature and I didn't stand up in them, plus I've used the KORs for 2 years so they're well broken in. I'll skate in the Torspo's first and if the forefoot needs to be widened a little I might have them rebaked for longer or try to spot heat them myself carefully with a heat gun (I'm leaning toward rebaking if necessary as I don't want to wreck them). Unfortunately my game last weekend was cancelled and a new game hasn't been scheduled yet due to rink issues...I'm dying to try them though...I suppose I could use an outdoor rink, but I'd rather try them with the Revisions on Sport Court.

5hole - if you're near Keith I would recommend trying on a few pairs to be sure of the sizing and you may not need a D as they do expand after baking. I'm an E or EE in a lot of brands, but think I'll be fine in the D's as is or after a rebake. I know I'm very comfortable in my D width Kors. I'd say the D Torspo's are about as wide as the EE Mission L7's I have, but should mold better due to the carbon material. There's a good chance you'll fit into a 10 as Keith recommends as your shoe size is 1.5 up from mine so a 10 would make sense...but if you fit a 10 Torspo I think you'd fit a 9 Bauer One90/One95 ect :). Of course people do have different feet..but for me the Bauer and Torspo are one size apart (I do measure an 8 or a hair over on the Bauer Brannock devise, but I think that was based on the older Bauer molds). Oh, and while I haven't used the Sprungs on the Torspo's yet I've used the Sprung frame for over a season and prefer it to any other frame I've used in the past and recommend them.
