KOR Shift 1 and 2

Recommended Posts

They are whatever HG has on sale for $199 right now. They don't say "blems or 2nds" on HG's site which may or may not mean anything. I would think that a company would have to let you know if what you are buying are 2nds.

Hopefully the gauge was adjusted after the Vegas show, it was a half size off for me.

I do think I am still an 8 in Kor.. But without a local dealer I guess I will order them and see how they fit before I heat them to make sure my toes are not pressed against the toecap....

If the 6.5 Flexlites you wore fit you properly and weren't too small then you're probably a 7.5 in KOR. I'm basing this on the fact that I'm a 7.5 in the Nike skates and 8.5 in KORs, plus the original sizing chart I got from KOR when I bought my Shift 1's a couple years ago suggested 1 size down from US shoe size (I know the new one posted in this thread says .5 sizes down, but I honestly think the old one that said one size down was closer). I'm actually a size and a half down from my dress shoe size (although I leave a little room in my dress shoes for comfort)...I don't think you'd be only a half size down from your street shoes unless you really wear them tight. Of course I'm not the one ordering them and don't have to worry about the hassle of a return or exchange, but my best guess is you'd need a 7.5. Now if the 6.5 Nike's had your feet crammed against the end then maybe you do need an 8...but based on your shoe size I'd still lean toward 7.5.

I guess you could order two pair - one 7.5 and one 8 and send the one that doesn't fit back, but I don't know Hockey Giants policies regarding that type of thing and how practical that would be.

My Nike's are not crammed but I am thinking that the 6.5 is a tad small.. but every guide I see says 8 in Kor. I don't want a big hassle when in returning the skates and have to get a 7.5 later on. That is why I am trying to figure out what size beforehand. I have seen people go up a 1/2 size, down 1/2 size, down 1 size... I am usually a 7.5 when I had Mission about 2002 or so (Amp series)... So I am getting even more confused!!! LOL

picked up a pair of shift 1s yesterday at hockey giant, and they feel great. the only thing i'd like to change is to put superfeet in there. anybody remove the sewn in stock footbeds? i'd imagine if i cut the threads i could pull it out...? any reason not to?

thanks.

also just wanted to confirm that wait period after baking and before using shift1s is 24 hours?

seems weird if they're so similar to shift2s and it's only an hour for them...

No you can skate an hour later

i would strongly recommend waiting a little longer then 1 hour. the manufacturing process is different on the Shift 2. you don't have to wait 24 hours, but i would suggest 6-12 hours. unless you absolutely have to go right on the ice, wait a little while.

Finished baking them a little more than an hour before my game. If I'd had more time I would've spaced it out better, but couldn't get into the shop any earlier. Thanks for the tips though, JR & Prenny.

Hi Guys, I have been reading through all of this Kor Shift1 stuff and the information is great! I don't have a Kor dealer near me, so I have to order online. I contacted Kor and this is what they sent me. Does this seem right?? I am a 8.5 Shoe...

Thanks!

Mark

found the foot chart, apparently i am just in between 10.5 and 11, so i guess 11's for me. weird.

i'm kind of in between a half size and a size up from Eastons (7.5-8) to Kor (8.5)

so i'd say that's a pretty safe bet.

Based on my experience that chart is a half size too big. I'm a size 10 shoe, 8.5 bauer skate, and a 9 Kor skate. All were fitted properly too. On top of that I had a friend try on my Kors last night. He's a 10.5 shoe and said he would need to go up to a 9.5 Kor to have enough toe room. So, based on my experience and the fitting guidance that I received from Chadd and Jimmy when I got mine 2years ago I would say that chart is off considering my Kors are perfect.

I posted a version of the chart that is correct. The version that map70 put up is incorrect.

well as long as the Kor foot measuring chart is correct, i am an 11.

I just picked up a pair of KOR Shift 2's yesterday! I was gonna try on the Shift 1's at my local store and then get them on sale at Hockey Giant, but guess what...

THE STORE WAS CLEARING OUT ALL THEIR KOR 2'S FOR MAD CHEAP!!!

They had the Shift 2's for the same price they were selling the Shift 1! Only problem is that they only have three pair left: a size 9, 7, and 6 (I bought the only size 10. My shoe size is 11). I can't believe I lucked out like that! The 2's are like $450-$480 everywhere else!

I tried on the Shift 1 and 2's for about an hour before making up my mind to go with the 2's. They are NOTICABLY lighter, and stronger in most areas (especially the toe, tongue, and heel). They also have more tendon support than the 1's.

The Shift 1 fit my foot (below the ankle) a little better than the 2's, but they had some serious lace-bite from the top lace on the front of my foot (I think this was partially because the tongue was not as strong as the S2's).

I didn't use them last night for hockey because I had them baked about 2 hours before the game and was told to wait 24 hours.

The guy there said they were getting rid of their stock because they had only sold 4 pair of KOR's in the past few years, and 2 of them were to the same kid. He said nobody knew enough about KOR to want to chance trying them out.

By the way, it should be noted that the Shift 2's have more room inside the boot than the Shift 1. Because of this I was able to fit my custom molded orthotic in the skate instead of the Superfeet arch support that's in there already. This made the Shift 2 fit a LOT better around my foot since my foot was now raised up further inside the skate.
