KOR Shift 1 and 2

Recommended Posts

Hi SRI...I ordered my Shift1 from HG...sending them to Germany...do you think they can check my order for the Pitch3s upfront...I just sent a email to them...changing/sending them back would be expensive...

Coming from E-pros I'd like to have +1 on the Pitch...that's my problem...

It's called "customer service." Nothing wrong in making a quick call or sending a quick email. :)

See this?

This is the kind of 'difference' that helps someone make a final decision in buying product and will make all the difference in the world in the guy from Germany's skating experience.

SRI, that is just outstanding on so many levels.

You dont even know half of it, not everything is public(who knows how many times he has helped MSHers unpublically). When you want to talk about taking care of customers SRI wrote the book.

I kid the guy but theres not too many more on the forum that have my full respect.

Elevation, dude... you have no idea how bored I am! But not bored enough to call HG for ya! haha. ;)

I'm gonna cave and get the Shift 1's from HG.

I know this is really tedious. But I don't want to regret buying the wrong size.

I'm wearing a UK 9 shoe so what size of Shift 1 should I get?

Just an FYI, I had old Buaer Vapor 6's that were a 9 and a tad small. Got the Shift 1's in a 10 and they fit very well. Toe just feathers the neoprene cap when standing, can't feel it while skating.

Also, these are phenomenal skates. I have skated in them only twice and have felt almost no soreness. I baked them before using, then used once, and baked again. Very, very happy with the purchase, especially for only $200!!

Im a little concerned about the low cut boot on these. I was "lucky" enough to break my ankle the same day I got my Kors in the mail. Havnt been able to wear them yet. Now im just worried that the low cut boot will be bad for my ankle after i am healed up (assuming 3+ months).

I wouldn't be too worried. I'm just an adult league player and I adapted pretty easily. Assuming the docs didn't botch your ankle, hopefully, you'll be fine. My doc told me that the bone heals stronger, but I have no idea.

Yup....physical therapy will help too, if you decide to take that route.

Hey guys....just thought I'd share this with you...so I bought the Shift 1's of Hockeygiant for $200....figured why not..for thgat price if I hate them I'll just sell em on ebay...baked 'em Friday, played in them Saturday and OH MY GOD! do these skates rock!! I couldn't believe that I had no pain anywhere(which I've had my whole life in everyskate minus the 153 tacks back in 1993), no having to loosen than tighten a million times, and no real adjustment period. Kept the pitch at neutral(although coming from Grafs I thought I might hafta go to +1) and I hafta say, my stamina and skating improved just on no foot fatigue alone.

For the price, beyond worth it for anyone looking to experiment with these. The low cut wasn't a problem for me, and I can't see why it would for anyone else. Much like everyone else who bought 'em, I highly recommend them.

I just wanted to let everyone know when I was investigating converting Kor skates I was told by Eduardo Zepeda that you can actually convert the Kor shift 1 to roller and that he did it with a pair of his own. This is a quote from the email he sent me and how he did it. “you have to drill thru the outsole and use all cooper rivets to keep the inner boot as flat as possible, then I placed a pair of superfeet insoles to cover the rivet heads.” The frame he mounted was the Sprung.

Eh.. That is a real hamfisted way to solve the mounting problem. Most of the charm of thse skates for me is how stripped down they feel.

It's a major pain in the as to do that and I wouldn't suggest having it done.

I was concerned about a similar scenario when I got my KOR's.....I have to tell you though that despite the lower boot cut, these are probably the most supportive skates that I have ever skated in. The boots are VERY stiff though, and I did have a bit of outer edge control in my first skate in them (I baked them also)....but they are now softening up so I can get a deeper knee bend and a better toe snap. But I am still more comfortable in my 7K's that are fully broken in, but the KOR's are far more supportive and definately more comfortable out of the box. After baking I had ZERO fitment issues. Simply fantastic fit. If I can get them to soften up and allow a deeper knee bend I do believe that they will replace my beloved 7K's.

On another note, I believe due to the stiffness and lack of a deep knee bend, I initially changed the holder to +1 for more of a pitch on my toes. This helped as immediately when I stepped on the ice I felt completely on my heels, and this helped to counteract this feeling and allow me a decent bend and toe snap on my first ice session. Once they are broken in I do believe that I will go back to neutral to mimic the pitch of my E Pro's....but time will tell which direction I choose to go. ;)
