Tape eating through palms in gloves

It seems no matter what gloves I get, there is always a hole in the palm of my top hand within a few months. Anyone have any suggestions on how to prevnt this?

I was told that colored tape wrecks your palms faster than white. You can always try tacki-mac grips. Hard to find sometimes but they are available online@ hockeymonkey and kemp's.

Just use regular white tape I didn't get a hole in my last pair for 2 years but before that I was using black tape and getting wholes and ruining gloves right when I got them

what type of palm do you have. I have digital nash and I know that with the way I atpe my stick I wll eventually have holes, as I hold my knob in my palm, and that will definately cut it up

Don't know if it's true but i heard the dye in tapes excluding white tape is acidic or something so try and keep to white at the top

Yeah definately use white...Whenever i use black it just goes straight through my palms...

Doesn't matter the color, it's the glues that eat away and cause abrasion. Best is to use a taci-mac, no holes with them.

That's how I tape my sticks. I've found that baby powder eliminates the tackiness and saves the palms of my gloves.

A friend of mine uses an easton product designed for baseball bats on all of his sticks. It's a cushioned tape with a smooth top layer and is about 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch thick. Hé hasn't had any problems with his palms except slight discoloration (color from the tape rubbing onto his palms).

I use white tape for my knobs and haven't had any problems with holes in my palms in quite awhile. The last gloves that I tore up were when I was using black tape, because I hated it when the white tape used to get dirty. Now it seems that the tape gets damaged before the palms, which is fine by me.

I only do a knob up at the end of the stick unless I am using a butt-end, but i hold the knob right in the palm of my hand (I know others who hold it out past their pinky). Instead of wearing out the palms, I kind of get tape glue residue on them, which i can usually peel off.

I just dont use tape on the top at all besides a butt end eliminates the problem right there.

I use a tacki-mac grip on my stick, but I read somewhere the pro's spend a lot of time with a knife whittling away the tape so it fits their hand perfectly. There is this special type of tape (powergrip? I think) that is supposed to not wreck your palms.

try adding some baby powder to your white handle tape and on the glove palm. Gently work it in. It helps soften it up and be less abrassive.

Works pretty good for me.

I have about six inches of tape down the shaft of my stick as well as the "Candycane" tape job all the way down the stick. I have some spots that the grip in my glove has worn off but no holes.

I always use white tape and use a large butt end (in comparison to most) My tape gets dirty and ugly, but whatever its hockey. But I haven't ripped through any gloves.

My recommendation would be to follow Don Cherry's advice and "get the big stick"

I grip my stick with my pinkie on top, as do many players. Not because the stick is too short but because it's more comfortable and allows for more freedom of movement of the wrist.

I don't put 1 finger out just because my sticks are too short, I do it for more mobility, with all the fingers on the shaft, you are more restricted. Anyways, that's what I do and it works.
