Heh, it may look like a station wagon but it can haul ass and beat nearly anything cruising the streets.

The wood panels would be hot, but he is thinking of going jet black with silver accents. Right now he drives a '97 Dakota with the V8 that is so much fun to drive.

the whole "my cars got a hemi" deal is just a marketing ploy, all a hemi is a hemispherical (ball shaped) engine, cut in half, thats all a "hemi" is. Its just an engine type, thats like buying a civic, and saying its a 4 banger!!!

Regardless of the type, they are pretty big engines, and that is mainly what they are advertising. I believe the hemi in durango is a 5.7 liter, same with the new 300m.

actually, the hemi thing isn't really a gimmick. the engine type is that the top of the cylinder is hemispherical, (half a sphere) and the shape allows for a more complete combustion, increasing power and reducing emissions (to a certain extent).

Cavs, all of the hemi engines have the same displacement, daimlerchrysler saves a boatload of cash by transplanting drivetrains.

EDIT : the way the hemi design increases power is by focusing the force explosion inside the cylinder. the curved shape also reduces the volume at the top of the cylinder, which better compresses the fuel-air mixture

The worst thing about Hemis is the catch phrase. The other day I was in my friend's Saab the other day and this old fart rolled down his window and said 'that thing got a Hemi?'.

yea, hemispherical chamber design sounds about right. its basically a regular cylinder, except the cylinder head is hemispherical.
