Love the old 270 Jofa cage there...

I wonder how well the Easton lid stacks up against the Intake (which I have and like quite a bit).

I find the fit to be similar. I just tossed a visor on the Easton today and in the quick wearing for sizing, it feels good, better than the Intake did at first. The foam seems to mold to your head faster, alleviating the initial head pinching that I got from the Intake. It went away after a couple of games in the Intake but I already don't feel it with the Pro S9.

Thanks Chippa...

I played a couple of nights ago and I didn't notice the tint on the visor, I was worried it would be to dark but your eyes adjust to it very quickly. The optics on the oakley are very, very impressive... I thought my itech was clear but this really has some impressive clarity.

now I just have to pick up my game a bit to match the helmet

That helmet looks pretty cool, I know it sounds gay but I hate mixing my gear up Im a Nike/Bauer boy, so I probably won't switch to it

Only using one brand is a bit obsessive, but I think most people tend to like certain brands for certain equipment...

IE Bauer skates, Easton sticks, Jofa/RBK Shin pads...

mack, stop chiding the poor guy.

Short answer- yes. Preorder every piece of equipment you can, especially products that rely on personal preference and individual fit, and new products that many people are saying fit radically different. It's always a safe bet and I'm sure you won't be stuck with skates giving you sores all over your feet.

/sarcasm.

Its actually a good looking helmet. For the longest time Bauer/Nike had the helmet market on lock, because thier helmets looked the best and performed well. However, as of recent, Missions Intake, CCM Vector (Hester), and now Easton's stealth have created some overwhelming competition for helmet supremacy in hockey lol.

great, great helmet. completely different fit to my 8k and better in every sense. The helmet is lighter and the tight fit it provides actually makes me feel as if I have very little on my head.

only downside, it holds a lot of sweat... played for 2 hours last night and I could actually feel the weight towards the end of the skate

as for pre-ordering, I'd hold off until your local stores get them. I was lucky enought that helmet just fit me, it fits well but I could have def. used an XL whereas the L is opened fully

or you could jus wait till it comes out and try it on and make sure that it fits and then buy it

or you could just shut the fuck up and let me waste my money on whatever i please... thank you very much

completely unnecessary. I could have thought of 1,000 ways to get the same point across, and avoided a warning.

from what I've seen I actually like the look of the s9 over the s17, just my honest opinion

I'd have to agree... but with my noggin' clocking in at a hat size of 7 5/8th's - the S17 will be the only of the 2 that'll fit me. So I guess I lucked out I didn't get a lid... or else I'd be back on the Easton board trying to trade it...

Definitely agree with you there.

Finally got to use it in a game setting. It's been years since I used a VN bucket and I shave my head, so take this for what it's worth - but the moisture management was not good at all. I had sweat dripping all down my eyes and visor, and whenever I took off the helmet, it just collected in the center and forehead area.

The ventilation wasn't there either - especially coming from an Intake. I may try to improve things by cutting out the honeycomb and see if it improves.

With my 7 7/8 hat size, there are very few helmets on the market that will fit me. I can bring no other criteria into helmet shopping than "Will it fit me?"

Dibs. :D haha

That's odd, I rarely have issues with sweat in VN helmets. Normally it's when the foam starts getting hard-er. Now with EPP helmets, sweat is a serious issue. But I definitely have more hair than you!

I've found that after about 15 or so games that the sweat issues aren't as bad as when I started with the helmet. It slowly improved over that time as the helmet conformed to my head and now I find it no worse than the Intake I was wearing.

I still think the ventilation could be improved - when I skate with the Intake I can feel the breeze on my head. Not so on this helmet.

We'll see if it gets better.

Other than that, the helmet is very comfortable and light.

Exact same story for me (in different helmet though). Hence the reason why I wear a UA Skully under my helmets. Better moisture management, and keeps me from dripping on my visor while on the bench. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat for anyone with similar issues.
