Konig von Kuhlem 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I want to try out some sort of performance apparel under my equipment this season to try to keep cool and dry. I was looking at getting a compression T-shirt and leggings. I've found a bunch of different brands that offer this (Rbk, Nike, Easton, Under Armour, etc...), each with their own moisture wicking material. So I was wondering, which product does the best job? Viking#9 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I've used Under Armour for the last 3 years, and I think it's the best, it's really durable, i've been using 3 shirts for the last 3 years and I've only just had to replace them.
BK 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I have used both underarmor and nike dryfit.. Both were great. The underarmor rode me a little bit and had a tendancy to want to roll up.
DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I had issues with tightfit shirts making me stay hotter. I personally prefer a loose-fitting moisture wicking shirt for both roller and ice. You may want to look into these. I had previously worn cotton t-shirts and the moisture wickers are much better at keeping you dry and light. I've used UA, Nike Dri-fit, Rbk, and cheap knockoffs from wal-mart, k-mart, and sports authority. All work well, but my favs are the Dri-fit and the cheap knockoffs. teamhystyk 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 WSI is by far the best undergarment I have used. I do own Nike, UA, And Russell and RBK, I have a ton since somehow I get them all free, but WSI is by far tops!!
SWP27 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I've used the nike pro dri fit ones, the good thing about nikes is that they are seamless so you dont feel anything rubbing against you
sogaduch 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 i use the UA and I find it works amazingly, i tried the nike stuff but that was just not cutting it
DarkStar50 679 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I have a year old Nike Dri-fit loose top with grip print. It still works great at taking the sweat off and keeping me comfortable. I also had a tight fit but did not like it as much. The first thing I do after the game is take off the top and put a dry shirt on in the locker room. Then I'm ready for the "beer frame." Muzza_77 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 Sorry to hi-jack your thread. If I where to buy a short sleeve nike dri-fit, it would keep me dry and cool for inline hockey and field hockey?
flaming_june 2 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 underarmour is awesomerbk playdry is a wannabe :P id have to say under armour is getting less and less dependable. quality and design is lacking esp in the ones made in mexico.comparing any nike dri fit for hockey and under armour all season mock, turf dri fit and heat dri fit for hockey, nike's been so much better at keeping you dry, where as ua's leaves you wet as well.the ua tech t's have been great for working out.muzza, long sleeve tight best for any hockey, except ball and field with no upper equip. in those cases short sleeve is good too. any dri fit from both ua n nike are better than cotton ts in that regard, but im pretty sure the good ol' sweat drenched grey cotton T's would look plain sexy in the eyes of women. yet to be tested.. haha
kredmore 2 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I agree with WSI as the superior brand...I have also used RBK, Nike, UA, etc. and WSI was recommended to me by Great Skate - they were right!

JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I'd put T3k over WSI.
sc37 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I've used Easton, North Face, UA, Rbk, and cheap things mostly from Target, and few others. The ones from Target for $9 works fine for the money, but if I had money, I'd buy more of the North Face loose fitting long sleeves...it seems to be the most effective. UA is all about the commercials and ads...
Chadd 916 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I'd put T3k over WSI. One of the guys I know loved his T3K, until it fell apart after three games. His replacement (purchased, they would not warranty it) did the same thing.
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 Actually that's why I didn't like WSI (because of the stitching). The shirts are great but the jocks ripped like hell- we were replacing them left and right.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 Actually that's why I didn't like WSI (because of the stitching). The shirts are great but the jocks ripped like hell- we were replacing them left and right. WSI jocks have gotten much better in the last couple years. I remember four or five years ago, they would rip the first time you put one on. They did replace mine the one time it happened to me. The model that rolled out last year is actually very good. jimmy 194 Report post Posted August 30, 2006 I agree with WSI as the superior brand...I have also used RBK, Nike, UA, etc. and WSI was recommended to me by Great Skate - they were right! I love the WSI stuff but I think the Puckskin is better. IMO, Puckskin offers the most performance bang for the $$$. Lightwieght feel like no other, fantastic moisture wicking, silver threads that kill bacteria, and transmit heat and cold away from the body. And to top it all off, the odor eliminator tag keeps the sweat smells out. I have WSI, RBK, UA, and a couple of other brands and Puckskin. B far the Puckskin performs the best. The others are nice, don't get me wrong, but the sweat smell just can't be washed out of them. I wore my UA shirt to work today (I just moved into a new store and have been sweating like a pig hauling hockey equipment to the second floor) because I wanted to be cool (and my PS was in the wash). Anyway, the sweat smell permeating from the clean UA shirt was disgusting. With PS, you just can't smell the sweat.

Chadd 916 Report post Posted August 30, 2006 Just use a little oxy clean, it works and it's cheaper. Nothing works as well as puckskin though.
Konig von Kuhlem 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2006 Thanks for all the advice. I was checking out the PuckSkin website and it looks pretty cool. I'm going to check if my LHS carries PuckSkin stuff.
