One90 Transition and Skate Profiling

Recommended Posts

2 pairs of One90's in my household, 9D and 4.5D. Out of the box, theoretically speaking, do these skates come with a 13' radius? Same for both the sr and jr? Thanks.

This thread is just depressing. Forget custom profiles, I can't even get a decent or consistent sharpening around here, so I had to get t'blades - as did half my teammates. *Sigh*

Niether of them have a 13" radius they are both a 9" radius. Although it does feel like a longer one but if you put it up to the radius bar it is defenitley a 9"

Thanks. So we've both been skating on these for a little over a month, both coming from Vapor 30's, both think the skates are sliced bread and eggo waffles, however still feeling a little on our heels. I see it in his skating, and he sees it in mine, or so we say. 30's had been profiled to 11' and 2 degrees forward. Why wouldn't I just have the same thing done to these skates?

Someone reminded me the other day that I'd said I'd post another video showing Diane's progress. I haven't shot anything in October but I do have some video of the three weeks after the profile... which takes us to September 21 (about a month ago).

Next 3 Weeks Sept 06

For comparison - I'll repost the original before & after profiling video:

If you had 11' and 2 degrees on your XXX's, and that felt good, then certainly that's a configuration to start with. Then give it a good 6 skates before you start making adjustments. For the size 4.5's, I think an 11 is too long unless the skater is inexperienced, if son is a good skater, I'd start with a 8' on that size skate and 1/32 or 1/64 pitch depending on position and current skating stance..

Thank you for your help. One last question for now. You use 1/32 and 1/64 for pitch recomendation measurements. Would that be equivalent to 2 degrees and 1 degree respectively?

Not to take anything away from OTG and the work he did on the One90 skates but surely some credit has to go to your daughter. Impressive.

I like the game clip where Diane backchecks, pokechecks the puck, and draws the penalty on the wall all within 15 seconds. Tremendous improvement in a relatively short amount of time. "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiam." Ralph Waldo Emerson

LOL That was the play of the game as far as she was concerned "Did you see me draw that penalty, please tell me you got that on video!!"

Backchecking is as thrilling as scoring. (JR take note)

Oh thanks Metro…. Of course it is WAY easier than riding LOL

(I couldn’t resist a joke from another thread).

But seriously for a minute, and NOT to take away anything from Diane, because this kid has/is working her butt off to “get goodâ€. I think she would be the first to agree it is a trinity between her passion/effort/attitude, the right fit/profile and the right skate. I’ve said all along that I think someone who already is a great skater would get the most performance benefit from these skates…but I also truly believe that the skate and OTG’s profile is giving her the platform to improve. And she's getting way more satisfaction from putting in all the time and effort with the right tools.

I think JR said a few pages back that the right fit/profile can give a player confidence to improve, and I am seeing that with Diane and her “million miles of sweaty unders†(too bad I have to wash ‘em).

Hmm she’s more powerful and faster – think it might have something to do with the skate? LOL

Do you have any certifiable, authenticated, abbreviated and annotated documentation to back up this claim?

She improved that's for sure. The skates will never hurt but I think nothing beats practice. And from what I see, she has been going to stick&puck and public skating and those things are some of the best things you can do to improve your stickhandling/skating skills.

Passion + Effort will always lead someone to great results.

Congratulations to her for praticing besides her team. We can see the results...

Thanks Kovy - I know that is the point you and Metro are making and it is very, very true.

It doesn't matter what equipment you are wearing if you are not putting in the tremendous amount of effort it takes to shift and improve your skill level.

Seeing your stuff on MSH has inspired her to pick up a stick at home and work on those skills too. So thank you for that as well.

So I had jr's skates profiled over the weekend. (Ha, let him be the guinea pig - he get's more ice anyway.) The lhs said that the Bauer rep told them that all One90's were 11' radius out of the box. I kept them at 11' and had them pitched forwad 1 degree. Nice. Mine are next.

Well thats incorrect the One90's are a 9" out of the box.

Hmm. Confused. Thank you for your reply. Reputable lhs in an eastern suburb of St. Paul, MN. Not sure what to think. Skates have now, supposedly, been profiled to 11' with 1 degree forward. The kid looks great.

Not too worry. I'm going to have mine done the same way this weekend. In addition to the pitch forward, I think I'll be able to tell if power turns are easier or tougher to push through. If interested, I'll let you know what I think. Thanks again.

well personally I think 11 is way to much on that skate with it being a 4.5. Dianes (the one in the video) are a 5.5 and are only a 9 ft with a heel lift (I think a way better idea than shaving the little blade there is) but hey....everone is diffrent and I havent seen the person with the 4.5's skate so?
