I guess the NHL website got a facelift for the new season, too much stuff, i don't know where to click!

Just looked around it for about 10 minutes and although I liked the old site style I think I may like this one more already.

I like the team logos at the top to find team site...the drop down menus always bugged me...also have the stats leaders on the front page is nice. Find what you want quick.

get used to it, the NHL is taking over team sites as well.

The one really cool thing is, if you play fantasy hockey on NHL.com, they will have nightly highlights of your players for you to watch. should be interesting to see how they pull it off.

We feel going the non-ad route solidifies the integrity of the site. I got into a discussion with my sister about this. She asked me why we didn't do Google adsense - I told her that if we did that, we would have HockeyGiant and Monkey and God knows who else's ads plastered on our site, and it would look like we were supporting them.

We have gotten donations from a few members and we've tried to raise money buy selling stuff like jerseys, hats and t-shirts, but it never goes that well. We lost money on the t-shirts and jerseys, and broke even on the hats. One of the Mods just paid the bill for the next cycle and we hope to sell some of the jerseys we have left to pay him back.

ad-less is definitely a way to go, in my opinion.

Too bad the nhl couldn't do the same.

Personally, I think it would be a bad idea to advertise on nhl.com anyway. Basically it would be inviting a bunch of unknowledgable people(see easton/ccm's forums) and regular hockey fans moreso than players. But that's just my opinion.

I don't know whether I'd want them(once again, that's just me). You can see how stupid(uninformed, don't know enough about the game) a lot of them are on hfboards and the like. I like this board mainly because you don't see a lot of that kind of "stupidity" and also on this board we talk more than the pointless arguing ie.

But I agree with TBLfan on this one, there are some boards with some major dead-shits on them with garbage like this or that.

I'll let you guys in on a secret, Im glad this board doesn't advertise. The things I have learnt on this board over the past 2-3 years make me head over heels more knowledgable about hockey then guys in Aus who have owned their own hockey shop for 10+ years!

It is utterlly amazing from my point of view how much real information gets traded on this forum.
