Phased Out Brands

I noticed Jagr is using Koho gloves, and it got me thinking. I know manufacturers have to pay fees to the league because of exposed equipment and stuff like that, but why would a company allow one of their marketed players wear a dead/dying/phased out brand and pay the fees for it? I would think they'd want him in the latest gear. Even if he likes the style of the glove, just put RBK or CCM on it or something.

Because some players are assholes and won't switch gear? Look at Ryan Miller, he got his rbk vector pads and sent them back saying something along the lines of: I didn't want RBKs, I wanted CCMs.

Jagr's gloves this year are different from the ones he used last year. I don't think he just had them lying around, he had them made up.

The ones he's wearing this year are a more traditional glove. The look like almost like tacks gloves.

They also look like they may be nylon.

This is the best pic I could find.

And he's using the new sickick this year. Last year he had V130s.

I dont blame them.. I dont want to change my gear either. I like CCM.. not RBK. I liked Nike and Bauer seperate..

The last model Koho made were in the first picture. They were the 4460's. I have a pair and love them. Those are the gloves in the top picture 05-06. Robert Lang wears these as well but marked RBK. I was hoping that those would have been the new version of the RBK gloves.

You don't have to change the gear, you just get the newer/more widely-used logo put on the existing piece of gear.

I think my name says it all does'nt it? I loved some good 'ole Koho gloves and their sticks but I can't get 'em no more. Part of the reason I decided to use the username I have.

You can still get the gloves, albeit they're the ugly ones that Jagr and Lang wear.

Rob McLean, the Panthers' eq mgr (and developer of the PITCH holder) bought 4 pair of RBK 8k 9D skates from us today. Gotta love eBay...LOL
