Let the Nedved to NYR rumors begin. I never did understand why the Flyers signed Baumgartner, another big slow defenseman. Evidently Clarke didn't learn much from last year.

Come on Chadd, Clarke is a reactionary GM, he's always playing catch up with the rest of the league and is usually several years behind.

His next move will be to sign and draft a bunch of small fast D men. I really wouldn't be durprised at all if he sent Carter or Richards packing for help on the blue line.

Don't want that to happen but that's how Clarke is, he's always several steps behind everyone on everything but stealing players and bending rules.

I'm just waiting on mcphee to keep the washington 2nd chance carousel going, beech, zednik, surely it's only a matter of time before he picks Baumgartner from the waiver wire, he does love to go dumpster diving for players

Well, in that bitching thread yesterday I said the loss might stir things up in the room or roster-wise

It doesn't stir a lot up. Dimitrakos wasn't playing much and I'm guessing Baumgartner would be the odd man out once the D got healthy. Nedved takes 80% of the games/plays off and was fairly useless.

Do the Leetch to Philly rumours heat back up?

It clears almost $4M in cap room if they get sent to the Phantoms or go to another team.

After watching Baumgartner for a season with the Canucks, he does have a good first outlet/breakout pass.

baumer can make the good outlet pass and he's good at holding the line on powerplays

He is also apt at letting the puck go right under his blade because he is not concentrating, usually at a most opportune time.

I think his one good season with the nucks was not the start of his maturation into a serviceable D-man.

He doesn't hit enough either. When he does its good, but he just doesn't seem to want to much, or else he can't time it worth a damn

Dimitrakos wasn't doing that bad IMO...

Why did the flyers even trade for him if htey were going to use him like that. I hope the sharks pick him up off waivers... Karma for philidelphia for signing the RFA!

big talks now around here of gagne to calgary for iginla, anyone hear this , do you think it may go through

No way, makes no sense for Calgary. Maybe if they could get Forsberg to pair with Iginla at the deadline, but Iggy for Gagne makes no sense.

I think it was the NHIC Hotstove (although it may have been TSN's hockey crew) did mention Foppa and Calgary in the same sentence on the weekend. No mention of Gagne.

watching the toronto game its sad it seems like calder could have scored at least five times with crisp passes straight through the crease, it's like the man can't finish

I've heard the Foppa for Gagne+ rumours. It's a simple case of 2 struggling teams, who need a change, and these are the easiest 2 players to key in on. I can't see there being any truth, it's just an "easy" rumour.

Both wingers, both making alot of money, both not producing statistically upto par for their contracts, both fit what the other team is missing, both play on Team Canada, both considered elite wingers.
