RapidShot

Tried one once a couple years ago. If it wasn't so expensive I think it'd be a good off-ice training tool. For me, an outdoor rink in winter is much cheaper and I can spend a whole morning working on my shot vs. 15 min. at a time at a RS.

RapidShot Goes West Colorado Springs, home of Hockey USA, welcomes the third retail location. Tommy's Hockey Shop, on North Academy Blvd is home to the first RapidShot in Colorado. Owner Tom McCarthy is thrilled to lead the way in bringing innovative training benefits to the hockey community.

This is kind of exciting, but at the same time, I'm afraid to try it because I just know I would turn in an embarassing performance!

whatever, everyone is there for a reason.... to get better, or learn. You go, and you do your best... that's all that can be expected of you.

i tried it yesturday at the nhl block party downtown. used a 9k the first time (torqued like a mofo) and a kronik the second. i really liked the system - it forced me to keep my head up while shooting and the way it calculates everything is great for tracking improvement over time. what's your guys' best scores?

Yeah, they have certain sticks you can demo. I believe that if you demo one, you get x% off of a new one.

Now that's an idea that should catch on! We have the same premise with demoing golf clubs at work.

So you can try the sticks on this before you buy them? If so, that's pretty awesome!

Ya it is pretty sick, the only downer is the guy jacks up the prices for his sticks. so you gotta take the good with the bad. Or do what I do try the stick at my local store and then if you like it, you go to a store that has a really good deal on the stick. ;)

They have one at East West Hockey. I tried out several different sticks and curves before choosing one to purchase. The guys at East West were really cool. They kept handing me different sticks to try. I didn't have the heart to tell the I was getting tired after about the 6th or 7th stick shooting 15 pucks each.

I think it's an excellent training tool as well as a marketing tool.

I used one last year. They are very humbling when it comes to how accurate and fast you think you may shoot. I looked into the wholesale cost of one. They are mega-bucks and would take a while before the owner is turning a profit. They are worth trying, though!

They have a very long explanation on their site (their site!) but I think that there are pads on all four of the corners and depending on where you hit the pad you get a certain amount of points. You might want to check the site because I am not exactly sure how it works.

RapidShot is a great idea but i don't see it expanding greatly in the near future, unless they figure out a way to sell it to shop owners cheaper. I'd had ideas for something like this before I saw it, but I could never figure out the logistics to all the sensors and stuff.

how does the scoring system work exactly?

on each corner their is 3 ranges yellow, green blue ,

yellow is the farthest pad from the corner , then green then blue

yellow is the lose amount of points

green middle amount

and blue is the highest amount

not sure how many points each area is
