Best bands that you're not listening to.

Recommended Posts

Sort of on topic...went and saw Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace tonight...fucking phenomenal show. I had seen Three Days Grace before, and loved them. Breaking Benjamin trumped them big time, by far the better of the two. Seether was also there, and was better than Three Days Grace as well. But damn...I went nuts when BBen played Blow Me Away...

where did you see them? they came through here last year, sicknasty show

I bought "the man who" when it came out. really good album

their most recent album "the boy with no name" is my favorite. It's an album I can listen to from first song to last. Check it out, great music

Right now I'm listening to this dj called Amp Live. He mixed some hip hop over Radiohead's latest album w/ some pretty sweet results. You can listen to some of the songs on his myspace page.

www.myspace.com/thehexxers

awesome modern-yet-retro garage sound, for fans of the sonics etc

similar to the letters organize, simpler guitar, better vocals & drums

check out 'history's stranglers' or 'heart attack american'

tombstone brawlers

psychobilly, musically closer to the rockabilly side of things (not lyrically)

check out 'buried treasure'

the peacocks

swiss 'punkabilly' - a little bit poppy, a lotta bit catchy

check out 'don't know too much' or any song on myspace

the new bomb turks

www.myspace.com/theenewbombturks

brilliant lyrics, sloppy guitar-driven punk rock and roll

check out 'point a to point blank' - rest of the songs online aren't their best

the murder city devils

but has better songs - dark, grungy punk rock

check out 'idle hands' or anything else

one man army

similar to the stitches

check out either 'monet' or 'erotic neurotic' (other stuff is older)

the koffin kats

www.myspace.com/koffinkats

faster psychobilly, more on the punk side of things, for fans of the misfits

check out 'ignite' (cover of a song by the damned) or anything on there

three bad jacks

www.myspace.com/threebadjacks

relatively traditional sounding modern rockabilly (some stuff more psycho)

check out 'its forever' or 'gone gone goodbye'

that's it for now. a lot of those bands are broken up but still 'modern'

if anyone actually likes any of those, let me know... i got lots more hah

I think I've just retired from anything made in the last 10 years that calls itself "hard." Other than 36 Crazyfists, but that's just me pulling for an Alaskan band.

Ever listen to Blood Stands Still?

Why doesnt anyone listen to any classic rock or blues anymore. Nowadays its all punk, metal and pop, what happened to guitar heros like Hendrix and Jimmy Page?

- Bryan Adams, old favorite of mine. First songs I learned to play on guitar when I was young were his.

- Guster. Great little band. Very mellow stuff. Excellent music to listen to while working in Photoshop and whatnot.

Does Jimmy Hendrix make new cd's? Everyone appreciates the god's but can't listen to the same songs over and over again. and what Jimmy Page makes now sucks.

I'd like to add to the list( I didn't read the whole thread of 30 pages)

- The Notwist (mellow music)(http://www.myspace.com/thenotwistnow)

- Thrice (mellow, hardcore and everything)(http://www.myspace.com/thrice)

- Every Time I Die (hardcore southern rock) (http://www.myspace.com/everytimeidie)

- An Endless Sporadic (experimental instrumentalists) (http://www.myspace.com/anendlesssporadic)

- The Legion of Doom (awesome-makes clashes of songs i.e. matchbook romance vs. alkaline trio) (http://www.myspace.com/tlod)

-Oh, Sleeper (hardcore greatness) (http://www.myspace.com/ohsleeper)

-The Postal Service (electronica with lead singer from Death Cab for Cutie) (http://www.myspace.com/thepostalservice)

-The Sleeping (awesome band from my area that made it big, as heard on Guitar hero 3 and Madden 07or8 not sure) (http://www.myspace.com/thesleeping)

Liquid Tension Expirement

Consists of Dream Theater's John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy, and Jordan Rudess, along with Tony Levin on bass. they released 2 instrumental cds which have some of the best instrumentals I have ever herd. I highly suggest any Prog fan to check them out.

Sigur Ros. Icelandic weird stuff, but some of the best music I have ever listened to, and that is a lot.

I can't say enough.

Any other fans out there?

They were pimped like 26 pages ago. I need to peep these cats to see what the hype is about.

That's a good site that I use from time to time.

My personal favorite that I can get lost on for hours is allmusic.com... it only has samples of the songs but is great for learning anything about a band and those similar to it.
