Standard Shafts

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Whats shafts hold up the best over the long haul, while still providing some performance benefits. I've heard lots of good things about the XN 10 RL but I haven't heard anything about their durability. And no one mentions CCM or RBK shafts as far as durability goes. I haven't had much luck with Warrior, but how is their AK27 standing up? Just looking for opinions from standard shaft users.

PS I searched, but no one really commented on the RBK or CCM, only Easton ultralite and TPS Red Lite Xn 10

Or if you can get your hands on a Salming Strike Shaft, -Buy it. It is supposed to be an exact copy of a Easton Ultralight shaft... The Ultralight is more concave, but that's the only differens.. Same weight, same material etc....

Rbk shafts break like toothpicks, never seen so many identical shafts be broken by various players on my team (5k & 6k).

CCM v110 holds up like a tank IMO, think the V.8.0 (in Europe it's a standard shaft) is it's successor.

Inno: Broke both my noviuses pretty fast.

Easton: Terrible durability for me(z-bubbles and synthesis), but have heard good things about the classic UL.

TPS: xn10 breaks way to easy, they sacrificed durability for weight. even though the material is supposed to be stronger.

Oldschool Redlight is very good, decent weight 285g, good playability and great durability.

Bauer: Mediocre in durability (for me). Play nicely.

Mission: M-2, broke it fast! Both it was a freak accident, felt sturdy.

But the 2 Ions I have now are going strong. Seems like exactly the same shaft as the m-2, pain chipps on both models, so they even look the same! I.E. seems like exactly the same shafts without the paint...

Think I'll stick with mission next time I change shafts (due to breakage), or maybe an AK27 since I can get that cheap through the team.

The G10 shafts have great durability and performance.

I'll back Jason up with these.

I have two, and had them for almost a year now, put to good use, great performance and great durability. A great shaft for the price aswell! I would highly recommend.

The paint chips up easily on the AK27, but the shaft itself is solid enough after 5 games...they seem to flex light though. The Ultralite gets my vote for durability - it is a tank.

Mine are tanks. Every once in a while I switch to another shaft or stick for a few weeks but I have two that have been my primary sticks for almost two years.

I've been on a Sherwood Momentum XD for about 4 skates now... I love the feel, but as far as durability- gimme a bit to get back at you! The price is pretty good too, I paid $80

My Innovative Inno 1100 is a tank. If I didn't switch to OPS's I'd still be using it. First one lasted me a year. The second one I've had ever since....I'd say a good three years maybe.

Does the G 10 accept any blade, or does it have to be Salming?

It will accept any blades.

I have never seen a broken RLxn10. I even use one myself and it holds up like a champ. Ultraites are tough too, but I will take my redlite xn10 ANYDAY over my ultralite.

Redlite xn10 with zcarbon cnt = perfect balance. I wouldn't trade it for any other stick.

For those interested parties, I went with an Ultralite. I was tempted by the Xn 10 Rl, but couldn't bring myself to spend $40 extra. Besides, based on people's opinions here the UL has a decent reputation on its own.

Thanks everyone for their input.
