Kopitar and Frolov

Recommended Posts

Watching the Kings-Devils game last night I realized that the Kings are deep with young talent. IE: Cammaleri, Frolov, Kopitar, Dustin Brown...man the Kings are fun to watch.

Being on the East Coast, and not having Center Ice, i dont really get to watch alot of the Western teams...and The Kings were fun to watch!

And yes, both those shootout moves were nasty! Holy head fakes from Frolov!

Imagine what they would look like if they still had the rights to Tambellini...

True that Tiger...then they now have Johnson coming up for their D core. Man the Kings are deep. Is there any chance out there for a run here in a couple years for the cup?

Don't forget about Patty O'Sullivan. He'll be a stud.

The hit on Avery is nice.

Definitely. He got rockeddd.

Those moves are sickening. I like Frolov's more though. His hands were so quick on that.

I was watching that last night...Both made me go "OHHH".

Kings are coming to town Thursday, but can't go because of practice! At least we play them again this season.

Heh....as a long suffering Kings fan, it's nice to hear some positive comments from other teams' fans. This season hasn't been too fun though (although we're playing better as of late). Cloutier has been horrible and Garon has been so-so but he's coming on.

But yeah, Kopitar is already tons of fun to watch and Frolov has been on fire. Brown has been playing his best hockey so far which is nice because some of us were starting to get worried about his development.

Next year should be better. I'm hoping the Kings can shed some of the dead weight like Aaron Miller and Derek Armstrong and let some of the kids come up. We still have some other solid looking guys in Manchester and in college (Lauri Tukonen, Konstantin Pushkarev, Brian Boyle, Scott Parse, etc.). We also drafted Trevor Lewis with the first rounder we got in the Demitra trade and he is playing really well in Owen Sound this season.

So, the future looks bright....but we're still going to have to suffer a bit. I seriously doubt the Kings will make the playoffs this season. But in the long run it should be worth it.

I also forgot to mention that we selected Goaltender Jonathan Bernier (top ranked goaltender in the draft) with our original first rounder last summer - I watched him at rookie camp and he was phenomenal. Here's an NHL.com profile on him -

And here's some highlights of him with Maine of the QMJHL -

Besides the young talent, the Kings have Dean Lombardi in the front office. Look at what he built in San Jose. Give the management team and Coach Crawford some time to develop the core of players.

Those two shoot-out goals were ridiculous. Frolov had Brodeur toasted by the second shimmy of his hands. The rest of Frolov's moves were just eye-candy for the rest of us.

Fletch.........you also forgot to mention some guy named Jack Johnson.

Didn't need to....he had already been mentioned ;)

...that's a solid 'tender there, Fletch.

Yeah, he looked great at camp. I can't wait to see him here full time. BTW, I love how at the end of that NHL scouting clip he gives that guy a shot...lol.

I'm pretty sure it was more a case of him not wanting Carolina. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they offer him multiple deals, with their offer right before their cup run at the forefront?

Psh, the Cup champs didn't even want the guy, he can't be that good.

Oh, they definitely wanted him. Cavs, you're right, they offered many, many, many times before and after the playoff run. As a Michigan fan, I was praying to the Hockey Gods every night that he would stay in school...

Either Johnson didn't want the 'Canes, or the 'Canes just didn't want to wait.

Either Johnson didn't want the 'Canes, or the 'Canes just didn't want to wait.

Johnson and his family were determined to have him stay and school, and they were getting annoyed with Jim Rutherford's repeated pressuring for Jack to leave UofM and sign with Carolina. When Frank Kaberle went down with an injury in pre-season, they decided they couldn't wait for JJ and pulled the trigger on the deal with the Kings (Tim Gleason being the d-man going the other way).

Dean Lombardi called Jack and his family and told them Jack can take as long as he like with school and they were really happy to hear that. There was an LA times article on this right after the trade went down.
