Pretty cool video, how hockey sticks are made

Holy crap! That's a lot of work for a woodie. I would have thought it was more automated. How can they keep operating when wood sticks retail for such a low price?

Yes its unbeliveble how they could be so cheap. And I wondering what´s the differents between a great woodenstick and a bad woodenstick when the price is so different between each other. If you dont take this sticks with composite blades etc beacuse I understand why they are more expensive beacuse the materieal is better. But It must take the same time to do them all, so you mabe pay a little bit for the brand name allso.

A good wooden stick will retain its flex longer and just have better quality and feel in general. I assume they'd be more consistent than a cheaper brand as well.

Yes I am sure you are right!

If they start making wooden blades more consistently, I'd probably buy them, but for the moment, there's not telling what you're going to get in a wood stick unless you drop $50 on a nice Montreal or Branches stick.

I bet you that when they aren't being mass produced like retail sticks that they are a lot better and closer to what you want. Or at least when you do a custom order. When you're doing a lot of something you tend to start to take shortcuts and sometimes your eyes even start to play tricks on you. Changing it up and doing custom orders would keep someone on their toes and fresh so they don't get lazy and fuck it up.

BUT of course because it is wood and more importantly because humans are doing it, there will be slight variations... but you'd probably never notice if they do it right.

Just curious, where are you still able to buy Branches sticks? They went out of busines a few years ago.

I had Sherwood make up my sticks for me, so they invited me to the factory to see how they're made. I couldn't believe how much work goes into one. It makes sense that it's hard to find 2 wood stick that are exactly the same.
