"It's not going to help me much, I'll tell you that."

I guess Rod Brind'Amour just explained better than anyone why these things are pointless. If there's any chance the Hurricanes change those awful uniforms, I'm all for that, though. They look like a nosebleed on skates.

I can't see goalies liking it, with the tight fit and everything.

im a goalie and id be up for wearing one! if they are that good at keeping you cool etc ive never really been all that bothered by tight jerseys anyway

I can't get used to seeing that style jersey. It always looks to me like they are size or two too small. Why not use the new miracle fabric in the old cut? I'm not buying the "aerodynamic gains with the tighter fit" argument. In that pic Rod looks like a beer leaguer who is wearing the same jersey he had in Bantams...

Agreed.

This looks like a figure skater with bulky pants, gloves, a stick and a helmet

Brind'Amour probably hates it because he looiks a little more human not wearing a XXXL jersey.

Well, judging from the muscles he's built, he should be happy to show off them guns

Correct me if I'm wrong , but I'm pretty sure I saw the Sabers rocking those jerseys the other night. It looked like it to me, but I only saw a few glimpses of the game.

As for performance, I know jerseys and socks wouldn't be considered an "edge" persay, but I do buy into the whole moisture wick and light weight theory. I think it's great they've incorporated this into the league(almost). Hell, if the sticks can have "speed" holes in them, and skates are made of carbon fiber, why not jerseys and socks that wick moisture and keep you cool.

Because like the sticks with holes in them, they're a stupid gimmick, they're ugly, they're a cash-grab, and the performance benefits are marginal at best. Because I've never heard a hockey player complain that their play was being hindered in any way by wet socks. Because once in a while, the NHL just needs to keep their fingers out of the fucking pie, and know a good thing when they have it, and just not mess with it.

Tough to teach old dogs new tricks. It's funny how the young guys are all for change but the old farts keep resisting it.

Well I'm young, not even 25 yet, and I personally think the new uniforms are the stupidest thing ever. I would be in no way surprised to find out this had nothing to do with wind tunnels and was, in fact, a half baked Gary Bettman idea to try and get more women to watch hockey.

Buffalo has the design, but not the cut.

They have a baggier cut?

Well the NHL cam change their uniforms but I just don't see other hockey players switching to those tight jerseys.

I read that the Ottawa change was only going to be a "minor tweaking" - like a smaller logo or something... Also, I heard no third jerseys next year. Even though most of them are stupid, there's some teams where that's really a mistake - like the old-style ones in Boston/Toronto/Buffalo, and the Ottawa ones (which I like a whole lot more than the regular red ones). I'm not even sure about the retro full time for Vancouver - I like those uniforms, but just to switch it up from the normal ones, not all the time. I'd maybe like them to go with the blue and green colour scheme, but update it a little - take the white and green stripes off the pants, update the old logo a bit, and maybe go with a darker blue. The Canucks have had three completely different logos, and I still don't think they've gotten it quite right yet.

Yes.

4 teams will change their look - Ottawa, Washington, San Jose, Tampa Bay. Vancouver will go retro full-time and Minnesota will go 3rd as well as Columbus.

Caps going back to the red white and blue look

It absolutely, 100 per cent drives me bonkers when Vancouver keeps changing their logo. Can you imagine the Habs or Red Wings doing that. My God people, stick with something!!!

Couldn't have said it better. The league is trying to do too much to change and market this game. Rule changes, looking into bigger nets... I think the thing they should fix is the fact that the all-star game is on a weekday, and that the nhl is being broadcast on versus rather than espn. As a Canadian, I find it funny that even division II football gets more coverage than the nhl over here.
