If you could watch one player, who would it be?

It is hard to pick just one player, there are so many good atributes in so many players, but I think that I would have to pick Pavel Bure. The Russian Rocket was so fast and explosive.

Two notes:

1. Don Cherry mentioned this tragic accident last Saturday night on Coach's Corner. He was moved by having to tell everyone the parents' request to always wear the helmet. The TSN story is a heartbreaker. I'm sorry but when so many crappy people get to live another day and this little guy moves on way too soon, I just don't know. I just don't know........

2. Tough to get back on topic but having seen Orr, Howe, Hull, Beliveau, Gretzky, Mario and on, I have to wish I'd seen the Rocket play. I have seen a few old clips of those 50s Cup highlights films of him. He looks unstoppable.

After I posted the Rocket, I also thought of Sawchuk. I read a book on him and the guy lived a tortured life. I did see him play his final season with the Rangers. From what I have read, he was phenomonal with the Red Wings in the early 50s and then they dump him on the Bruins so Glenn Hall could play. The Original Six teams did some crazy s*&^%t to those guys back then.

I would have to agree with a lot of the fellas here... Number 4.

Even better, seeing him and Sanderson together would have been special for my family.

(My brother is named after Derek, and I was supposed to get Robert... but didn't due to technical family reasons.. mom saved it for my Uncle Robert to give his kids someday... never used it)

But in all honesty... I have the best time popping by the rink, and seeing kids about Nick's age play, just for the love of the game. It's just tragic... too, too soon.

Steve Yzerman, seems like the best all around hockey player, and appart from him Gretzky's my second pick.
