shaving a wooden blade

Recommended Posts

i've got a lidstrom woody in my shaft, and i love the curve but hate the square toe. so i decided to shave the bottom of the toe to make it rounder, similar to the sakic, but i'm just wondering what i should coat the part that i sanded down with

You don't really need to put anything on it since it's a wood blade, just remove the tape after every use and you shouldn't have any extra problems with it.

You're better off coating that part of the blade with something. As mentioned, protoe or nail polish will work, or some kind of spray-on clearcoat or wood varnish. Anything to keep the water out.

Hello everyone,

Sorry to bring up an old topic but my situation is quite similar. I have recently purchased a Pro Stock Adrenaline (very good price) and its curve is a sakic clone but with a square toe. My question is will I be able to sand the toe to turn it into a round toe? I suspect that in doing so I will probably hit the foam and the durability of the blade will go out the door. Have any of you tried this before with a composite blade?

i took an iginla and made it a square toe. just coat it with some epoxy, and change the tape pretty often and it should be good

Thanks for your help everyone! I filed it down a bit so far no foam.. yet. Anyways I took it out and played a game with it so far so good! However I think I am going to leave it partially rounded just because it did not seem to affect my game as much as I thought it would
