Vapor XXXX Skates

Recommended Posts

Lets logically go through your question.

1) The weight is more or less the same as the XXX, heavier than the one90, all of which feel no different on your feet as the leg is the largest and strongest muscle group in your body.

2) Seeing as the skate is not even out yet outside of people who got them at the Minnesota thing, how in the hell would anyone on here be able to give you a relative analysis of the skate's durability? Your best bet would be to ask Kopitar, Malkin, or someone else in the professional/collegiate ranks. Thanks.

Thanks cavs. I'm just curious why Bauer didn't give the weight. Could it be that the XXXX is a tad heavier than the XXX? In that case, they definitely won't want to reveal the specs. How about the fit. Does it fit the same as the XXX? If you're a 7D in XXX, you'd be a 7D in XXXX? JR, any info?

It looks as if they have the newer One90 toe caps. If they do, wouldn't that mean they're sized 1/2 down from XXX's?

There are a lot more people skating in them than just NHL players...Several college teams and minor league teams have players outfitted in them. There's got to be some information out there on them as far as fit and weight goes. Is the size 8 the standard as far as weight goes when coming to other skates?

What part of "professional/collegiate" didn't you understand? Not only that, but what is a custom fitted (quarter sized, different lace pattern etc), above stock #2 stiffness boot going to tell us about weight/durability/fit.

Like I said in the catalogue review, the fit is the same.

A weight hasn't been thrown out yet, however, I can find that out.

It's an updated skate. It may be a bit heavier because there is more ankle padding in the skate.

Is it really a big deal to anyone if they make the skate 10 grams heavier or something? That's like carrying a french fry on each foot. Maybe they can improve other areas of the skate at the expense of making it a bit heavier. I'd buy the better skate over a lighter, lesser quality one if they made it a little heavier, because there are things other than weight that matter. I'm sure the skate is very light. The number doesn't really make a difference.

im pre ordering them today from hockeymonkey.com for 469 and they say they will be arriving in may but it might just be a way to get more people to pre order from them instead of other websites

The XXXX on my May 1 delivery are allocated and ready to ship from NBH. NBH has sent a request to all FLDs to put Vapor XXXX skates out on May 1 and not any earlier even if they have been received. I have already received the new protective. The 4-roll glove is also allocated and ready to be shipped.

I found that the XXXX's didn't fit me the same as my XXX's. The toe area, especially across the widest part of my foot, was pinched in the XXXX's. It seems the seam joining the toe cap with the sidewall of the outside of the boot is thicker(?) and/or closer to the toe-end of the boot than on the XXX's. This caused a rubbing/hot spot for me on my pinky toe. I ended up buying S15's. It's too bad, because I really liked my XXX's, and everything else, except the toe, fit great on the XXXX's.

As another note, as mentioned in other threads here, you can probably size down 1/2 size from the XXX's when moving to the XXXX's.

As a final note, I wear Shock Docs in my XXX's with no problems, but when I tried them in the XXXX's, I couldn't even get my foot in the boot semi-comfortably. I didn't heat mold them, but I doubt that would have changed the fit much for that aspect.

I was not able to get my shock docktors in comfortably as well. But I can't complain about the insoles that came with the XXXX...they are working well for me so far. I want to get a pair of SuperFeet Grey in them though...but no one in the area has them yet in my size. I might have to get those online.

I did not experience the issue you are talking about with the toe cap. I actually find the toecap roomier than the XXX. I have had no pinching or rubbing. In fact, I skated in them Friday and Saturday, for two hours each session, and still no foot pain. I didn't bake them either. With about 20 hours so far in the skate, I am still amazed at how the boot feels. It is holding up perfectly.
