Gaborik41 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2007 one store, lets call it store 1, like 20 minutes away charges 20-30% more than the other LHS (store 2). nobody likes the staff at store 1, and it has resorted to selling lacrosse, skateboarding, figureskating, and other random stuff. most kids i play with will drive twenty minutes to get ripped off at store 1 instead of driving thirty minutes to store 2, getting a deal, and actually having somebody who knows something about hockey help you

BK 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 your going to get those kinda prices from stores that aren't specialty hockey shopsBig 8 has the same setup.. around the same price too. Last I checked, they had a pricepoint mission for $30 more than msrp, but hey.. if you are bright enough to shop at your LHS, then you shouldn't have a problem eh? Jim A 4 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 its just business savvy..i've been enough supposed core shops that had Cooper on the shelves in the late 90's..years after it had been discontinued at maybe 10% off..stuff has been paid for out of pocket for year ..time to turn it into cash...some would rather sell 1x/year at full boat though..which is their perrogative until they go out of business and it hits ebay..:)

Jarick 5 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 Sports Authority was selling One50's for $100 a pop...they might have had a weekend "sale" for $80. Meanwhile LITERALLY across the street Hockey Giant has them for $50. Pretty sure they're just going after people with too much money and too little knowledge. TBLfan 25 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 The price has dropped to $55 I believe, the CCM SE was also $99 but has since dropped to $70. Oddly enough the one50 jr stick is still $100. I believe it's just an issue with the pricing and the fact that sports authority doesn't know crap about hockey.

Not one single LHS carries narrow width tape, so I go buy a bunch of rolls of narrow Renfrew friction tape (to make the nub on the butt end).
forsberg91 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2007 Gabby up there might be shopping (or not shopping, as it is) at Cupolos. No i know exactly where he's talking about. They are in Colorado. The bad store is ProSkate and the good one is PlayersBench. Its pretty ridiculous. They tried to charge we $525 for Vapor XXX's while they were $400 a ten minute drive away. I asked a guy at Total Hockey how he thought that would affect their sales and he said it didn't bother them, that anyone who cared about hockey equipment didn't go to Sports Authority. I didn't think about how true that was until he said it.
mac23 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 I found the opposite to be true at Dick's Sporting Goods in Buffalo. Back in December they were selling '05 Synergy SLs and STs for $100 US. I've seen many stores that try to sell the older models at new model prices.
