ultraman7k 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 wow, that's crazy guy's. I'm surprised that Nike/Bauer didn't put a disclaimer out for previous XXX owner's. I'm wearing a 7D in my XXX's. I wonder if I can fit in the 6.5D's. On my XXX's, the lightspeeds are size 263. If I fit into 6.5 XXXX's, the holder's are 254. Will this really screw up my balance on the ice? My skates have always had 263's.I had no problems going from 263 to 254 during a game when i first used my XXXX.
D-MaN88 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 I'm in Vapor XXs right now and to be honest, my competitive ice hockey career is over as far as me playing but starting this upcoming season I plan to get into a lot of coaching and on-ice helping with coaches I know around here and well I'm having my XXs converted to roller as they are the only skates that have never killed my feet.My question is, I have very sensitive feet so to say and they are really picky as I have only ever been able to really been to perform at my highest level of playing in the XXs so I'm looking at a new pair of skates for coaching and probably a lot of skating doing demonstrations and helping with camps and I was just wondering if anyone has went from XXs to these and if the XXXXs would be "overkill" for what I'm planning on doing along with the circumstances.Any and all help/opinions is appreciated and I'm sorry for the long post, just have been thinking and was wondering what others thoughts on here would bring me any closer to a conclusion on what I should do.So thanks for reading and all replies and help in advance,D-MaN88
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 Don't worry about "overkill," if they fit and you want them by all means get them. I'm sure you will still play hockey and it won't hurt having nice skates, heck with less use they should even last longer. I'd still look into other options like the XXV for example or maybe closeout XXXs if cost is a factor.
D-MaN88 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 Thanks TBL, and cost isn't really a factor. The only thing is, I asked my LHS manager and he didn't know when he was going to be getting his shipment of XXXXs in so I can't try them on. The only thing that worries me is the fact that I was never really able to even wear the XXXs coming from the XXs (yes I tried) because even though it must have just been me, it felt like the arches were 2 times as high in the XXXs as in the XXs and they just killed my feet walking around in them. Thats why I was wondering if anyone could compare the fit of the XXs to these. But thanks again.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 I think the arch is smaller in the XXXXs than the XXXs, but I could be wrong. The XXXs were only on my feet for a few seconds, they hurt the second I stood up... even before lacing them(just too narrow).
poukali 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 Well i had my first test drive on the XXXX's tonight and all I can say is wow. This is the first time I have worn a brand new pair of skates without any pain in my feet during or after a game.Very responsive skate and I love the extra padding and support in the ankle and the new toe cap is designed so well considering my toes are touching the very front, and contrary to some posts i've read the skate is as light or lighter than the XXX's.Very responsive and suprisingly more nimble on tight turns than I had thought based on the stiffness of the boot. The insole is very grippy make sure you wear a thin sock or performance sock becuase any thicker would certainly start to bunch up.I left the profile on the skate at neutral and had them sharpened 5/8" hollow for summer hockey. Think i might change the hollow to 3/8" for a little more bite. All in all I'm very impressed with this skate and give NBH a lot of credit, they have a real winner on their hands and can't reccomend this skate enough. Not that this is gonna translate to any more goals :)pouk
iceangel 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 so XXXX skates is 2 shoesize???
mrusse01 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 so XXXX skates is 2 shoesize???What? Seriously man, start making better posts. The XXXX's may fit 2 sizes smaller than your shoe, but it is not consistent from one person to another. I for example wear my XXX's only one size smaller than my shoes because that is how I like them.

I for example wear my XXX's only one size smaller than my shoes because that is how I like them.Exactly...don't pay attention to any "recommended sizing" info, as it never works for me. I am a 12 shoe, a 13 Nike sneaker, and wear a 9D XXXX. Just try them on.
poukali 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2007 Agree with both MLSman and mrusse01, every foot is different. I for example went from a 7.5D XXX to a 6.5 EE in the XXXX and i wear a size 9 mens shoe. This does not necessarily mean that anyone else would go down a full size.I really hope everyone uses common sense and would try on any skate before purchasing, I'm just providing some feedback and experiences around the vapor xxxx's to use as a very general guideline to look for if you are potentially looking to purchase a pair of these skates.pouk
Mario123 2 Report post Posted May 10, 2007 Just bought a pair of XXXX's. I tried on a pair of 7D's which is the size I wore in my XXX's, and found them a little too big. I decided to go with the 6.5D's. I hope they're okay when I go on the ice on sat night. After skating on them a couple times, will my heel slide back a bit? Anybody else drop a half size for the XXXX's?
Mario123 2 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 When skating, approximately how much does your foot slide back?

JR Boucicaut 3810 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Vapor sizing has not changed from the XXX. It is the toecap that is allowing people to go down half a size. One of my employees had XXXs, and I tried to get them to drop down half a size. Refused, but now dropped half a size in the XXXXs.So it's not that it is different sizing, but that the toecap is allowing people to go to their true size. tomh7 2 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 I've been wearing 7.5D Bauers for ever but went to 7D in the Vapor XXXX. Skated on them for the fist time last week (after recovering from a pulled hamstring the week after I bought them) and so far they feel pretty good.
Jordan 13 Report post Posted June 26, 2007 Just got a pair:Previously on Graf 705s. First skate. The skates were profiled to a standard "forward" setting on a CAG machine. Went to a little stick and puck session, felt like I was going to fall over backwrds, and could not get my knees over my toes, or get an explosive start. Seemed to be a combination the boot's stiffness and the neutral stance(as compared to the Grafs forward stance). Also, perfect heel fit, some rubbing on the sides of the big toes on each foot. For me, at this time of the year and considering the tuna sized package that I am, hollow was too deep.I went back to LHS, they suggested trying a CAG 30/40 setting (moved more of the gliding portion forward of center), and reduced the hollow, ie increased the radius, by 1/8 to 5/8. They also punched the toe areas.Second skate. Skated that night in my regular Friday night skate, which for me at least is very fast, and populated with former pros, local university alumini players as well as a couple of current junior and university players. Immediately felt better balanced on the new profile. The smaller hollow was right on the money. Though from time to time, I would get a slight twitch of loss of balance, they generally felt fantastic. With the second profile, the stiffness of the skate only seemed to affect me laterally (a good thing) and didn't interfere with my ability to to bend my knees well and get up over my toes when starting or accelerating.I didn't think that I would really notice the difference in weight; however, it was significant. For me the fit in the heel and middle of the fit was perfect and the toes are close. So far so good. One more toe punch and they will be perfect.

LIFalcons15 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 I just got a pair about a month ago. I skated with my grafs for a while until they just fell apart. My feet are getting killed in them. I got so many blisters in spots that usually I never got. I skate barefoot, the size 8.5 fits me perfectly but I keep getting blisters. I baked them 3 times and the guy I bought them from said for me to try socks, should I try socks?
