nicksmission14 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 The Vapor XXXX came in today at my LHS, So Matt (Bauer Rep) was there making sure everything went smoothly. Real nice stand up guy, was willing to talk time to talk me, Knows products better then most reps I've met. So if any big guys at Bauer reading this.. You have a real good Connecticut Rep. Anyway..................I tried on the XXXX and IMO.. It's a totally different fit, I was a 6 in the XXX and I'm still a 6 in the XXX. It's narrower then the XXX in the heel and mid foot except for the toe box where it is considerably wider. Still to wide for my foot. So I placed an order for Custom XXXX's. It was quite obvious from the tracings that my foot was considerably narrower then a D Width even in the XXXX.Just figured I'd share my experience with the XXXX maybe it can help some people out with the fit.Got to see the Vapor XXXX Stick as well. Sharp looking stick, Feels pretty similar to the XXX, Curious to see the puck feel.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 I agree completely with the fit. BUT I believe that with baking that the heel will fit roughly the same size heel as the old vapors. SOOOOO much padding around the ankle, feels amazing. Also the skates are one of the stiffest I've ever felt.
M-Cohen 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Have you felt them in comparison with the 1300c?I'm interested in the vapors, but I love a stiff skate.
barrett 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 I'm interested in the vapors, but I love a stiff skate. Have you seen the XXXX's in person yet? I'd say they are the stiffest skate on the market by far. Well of all the skates I hae seen.
Edge 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 I came into work today after school and we got our NBH 4-roll gloves, one90 pants, and XXXX in stock today.I threw on a pair of 10 EEs not expecting them to feel good because the 30s killed my feet. To my suprise they fit really well. I wear a 10 EE one90 and it fits perfect. But the 40 didn't feel bad at all. Might just have to pick up a pair :o Wierd thing we discovered today though. When we were lacing the skates to put away in back, the coloring on the skate rubbed off on our pant legs while we were lacing them. All of our crotches were grey and red from the back of the skates... <_< 4-roll gloves were also VERY impressive for only $100-ishI ended up buying the one90 pants. Very solid pant(but also very pricey).
nicksmission14 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 I'm in love with the 4 Roll's, My next glove for sure. It sucked when they discontinued my Supreme 2000's best glove I ever used.

Well of all the skates I hae seen.they must be pretty stiff then because I was impressed with how stiff the xxx is.
MLSman 22 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 Wrote a little blurb...got a pair today...got locked for expressing details on how they fit....thought it might be good for those interested...guess mods feel otherwise. Just thought I would add my fit experience:Called and found out that today is first day for retail sales on the XXXXs. So I went to try them on at the LHS in Albany (Kemps).First impressions of the boot were positive. Same toecap as the One90, which I really like. Exterior material seems the same as the XXX. Weight is interesting. It certainly is not as light as the One90 by feel, but tough to compare to the XXX...they are close...can't tell the difference. The most noticeable things from close inspection were the ankle padding and the stiffness. These certainly don't feel like a 2 stiffness....closer to a 3. They are stiff...very stiff. This is a major positive to me. The XXX was not as stiff as the Vector 10, and I have always worn a stiff boot. The XXXX is clearly stiffer than the old XXX. The ankle padding is thicker than the XXX, and certainly more than the One90. I have had issues with ankle pain in the One90. I never had that issue with the XXX. The XXXX seems to be an improvement in the density of ankle padding.I then tried them on...wow. They are comfortable. Very comfortable. The only time I ever put on a boot and felt immediate comfort was the 1500c. I went down a half size from the XXX...from a 9.5D to a 9D...just like I did with the One90. The fit of the toecap was roomy...felt just like the One90 toe. The mid section, heel and ankle fit like the XXX...just noticeably more comfortable in the ankle due to the padding.I think that is about all I can tell you from what I felt...needless to say I had to get them. Can't wait to get on the ice with these beauts this weekend.

barrett 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 Off topic, but can you get the 4-roll gloves in leather or just nylon?
MLSman 22 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Off topic, but can you get the 4-roll gloves in leather or just nylon? From what I have seen, the retail version only comes in the tufftek nylon...but I am sure pro-stocks will show up from the usual suspects in leather. Know a few have them...watching the ANA-VAN game, I see that Niedermeyer has them in leather.

Jarick 5 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 How would you describe the fit of the 4-roll gloves? Tight or loose?
nicksmission14 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Loose- The gloves to me are Identical to the Bauer Supreme Gloves from about 4-5 years ago except in Nylon(don't quote me on the time frame).
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 they're about as loose as your typical traditional glove, comparable to eagle's fit.Do these still have the same palm? Considering it's called the pro 4-roll glove I'm assuming that it has a double palm like before.
Cavs019 710 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 meh....went in to my LHS super pumped to pick up some 40s, ended up leaving with One90s w/ LS2's. To me the XXXX felt like a square peg in a round hole in terms of fit. It simply did not contour to my foot whatsoever, especially in the ankle region. That being said, the construction/stiffness is phenomenal. Also, the 4-Roll felt AMAZING. Did anyone's LHS receive them in anything other than the standard navy and black? I'd kill for pair in red for this fall.

AnthonyJTa 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 While I never knocked the Vapor XXXX's when we first saw a peek... I have to admit, the more I see them, the more I love them.
MLSman 22 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 How would you describe the fit of the 4-roll gloves? Tight or loose? They are tight in the thumb and fingers, and open out in the cuff pretty wide. Very comfortable glove....you know the padding that usually only covers the outside of the middle of the hand? They added foam padding to the back of the fingers as well. They are quite comfortable. Not as light as the Vapor XXX glove, but much more comfy and the palms are of MUCH better quality.
barrett 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 One90's with LS2's or XXXX's wpuld be a hard choice for me. That is what I am considering to get in the summer though.
Cavs019 710 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 They fit nothing alike, so the choice should be relatively easy once you have one on each foot.
Shawn in Tampa 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 meh....went in to my LHS super pumped to pick up some 40s, ended up leaving with One90s w/ LS2's. To me the XXXX felt like a square peg in a round hole in terms of fit. It simply did not contour to my foot whatsoever, especially in the ankle region. Tried it on just for the hell of it, left with a pair.
Mario123 2 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Was at my lhs today, and saw the XXXX's in person. I'm thinking about getting a pair. However, to me they seem wider in the heel and mid-foot area. The hockey manager said the same thing. Isn't the width supposed to be the same as the XXX's? JR, what have you noticed about the fit/sizing of the XXXX boot? They don't have my size right now, so I couldn't try them on.
Fire0nIce228 1 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 From scimming posts on the XXXX (I got a fresh pair of XX waiting), the fit is nothing like the XXX. I think most people are going down a half to full size in length also.
