Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 I keep my head shaved tight. The new league I play in, we only have 10 on our team, so I am getting a lot more ice time than I am used to.Because there is no hair to stop the sweat, I have turned into something of a waterfall between shifts. Is there something thats better than a bandana, that won't cause my helmet to slip or anything.Cheers
k-ody.m 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 i know for snowboarding they have these like really thin toques that i wear under my helmet, that are really good for absorbing sweat. so i don't know if they have a similar item for hockey, but if not you could always go to a snowboard shop. davezilla 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 I would never, ever wear one of those ridiculous looking Ali-G skull caps. Instead I would get a terry cloth sweat band and Velcro it to the forehead area of your helmet.

BobMcRobertson 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 Hey Man, I am in the same boat. Father Time took most of my natural sweatband and the rest gets shaved off every day. Plus I sweat a lot. I use a Under Armour skull cap and a Nike Skull cap, they work great and you can wring them out between periods. You will have to adjust your helmet to accomodate them, but they work well. Those or just wipe your head with a towel or wristband after every shift.

The Stranger 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 I think I am going to try a headband next, I tried the RBK skull cap but the cuff was uncomfortable (tight) and too thick for under my helmet.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 nike has a tennis "tie headband" that is dri-fit and probably works well. You can find it at most good sports retail stores.

I tried to talk a friend into doing this because he was complaining... but he's a cheap bastard.
voss 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 i think those skull caps pull the moisture away so wont it make the sweat drip down even more?
jokerit1967 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 Under armour skull cap is the way to go... under armour makes two types... packaging is almost identical... for one type almost the entire top part is mesh while the other type the top part is solid like a thinner under armour moisture wicking shirt...i think the mesh type works better since it seems to allow more moisture/heat to dissipate/evaporate through the helmets ventilation holes...whereas the solid type one seems to hold more of the moisture in the fabric itself...I definitely prefer the mesh top under armour skull cap. Also comes in different colors such as red, navy, black, and white... I like navy so that it has less of an "urban" look.
saba 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2007 Look at REI for a brand called Halo. http://www.rei.com/product/710872?vcat=REI_SEARCHLittle wire strip keeps the sweat flowing to the back of the head. Use it for hockey as well as mt biking. Only draw back is that when it gets soaked it must be rung out to work effectivly
chk hrd 164 Report post Posted May 10, 2007 the best cap I have ever used is called (oddly enough) "Ice Cap" and the only place I could find them was hockeymonkey. Of all the caps I've tried this did the best job of absorbing the sweat and keeping my head cool. The entire cap is made from the same material so there is no band that is tight. I have worn these until they were soaking wet and still didn't have sweat dripping down my face. I don't know if hockeymonkey carries them any more (can't find them on thier site). If anyone can find them let me know where.
