TPS Glove question

Recommended Posts

Alright, so since my gloves are pretty beat up, smell like hell (which is a part hockey, i know, but at least i can give myself another reason to spend some cash AGAIN) and nice new models are out, i want to get some questions answered:

So, there are various versions of the new TPS R8 glove, i dont know all the differences, tho i checked the catalogue and their website.

There are:

HGR8, Response R8 (Leather)

Response Lite R8 (Nylon)

Authentic Player Pro Stock R8 (Nylon as well)

The first one is self explaining. But whats up with the other two? As far as i interpret the catalouge the right way, both have the NHL-Players Name on the cuff, both are nylon gloves.

A difference i noticed is the Pro Stock Batch on the Pro Stock one. Does that mean that those are exactly the same the NHLers wear (unless there are some fancyschmancy upgrades)?

Thanks.

Both the Response Lite and Pro Stock versions that I've seen are a mix of nylon and synthetic leather. The palms on the pro stock seemed thinner than the Response Lite's.

JR, do you know if it's possible to get an all nylon custom and if the cuffs can be shortened? I realize the minimum on customs would be 2.

So while talking about TPS gloves, i want to add something:

In a quite large german onlinestore, there are pro returns of "TPS HGT Pro Nylon" Gloves for a nice price, so which one would you pick (The new R8 or the HGT Pro Nylon)? A word about different fits and other preferences would be cool, too.

The palms on the new R8s are much nicer, that would be my choice. I'm just not a big fan of the looks of some of the R8s.

Well when its about the looks, the R8s are as fine as the HGT Pro Returns. But, the price of the HGTs looks nicer, since they cost the half of the R8s.

Where are the differences between those palms?

By the way, those are my actual gloves: TPS HG15

I'm not crazy about the larger flared cuff roll, hence my questioning about whether a 14" glove can be shortened.

I have a pair of R8 lite pro stock (not the "Authentic" line) and they are great. They differ slightly from the stock R8, but not by much. They do not have as many logos and it is also minus the pro stock patch you noticed on the authentics. The material on my finger wart is nash/durasoft, as opposed to the matching nylon on the authentic and Retail R8's. As far as the Authentics being exact, I would say no at least for the Afinogenov model- I think he still wears an HG-1 style glove with a longer cuff.

Regardless, they are all solid gloves. The Nylon models will be noticeably lighter. The Authentic line will offer you a few different color choices and player names on the cuff.

The HGT are decent as well- The fit is fairly close and as was mentioned before, they will have the traditional palms.

I'd personally go for the Response lites. There's only two reasons why I haven't bought them:

1) I have barely used one90s(can't stop using my eagles)

2) I don't know whether non-pro stock models have plastic inserts.

If someone could answer #2 I'd appreciate it.

dammit, I might end up selling these one90s for the response lites <_<

I dont think it would be such a bad decision, Brian ;)

Hi Sven, thats funny...I had the 15s too and got the HGT Nylons now. I was at the distributer here in Germany today (hockeycorner.de) and tryed on the 3new R8s as sampels. I thought, I want to change. They'l be shipped end of June. The guyes told me, they don't even know exately witch leather the palms should have for the European maret, the palms of the sampels were really soft ...maybe too soft. For me the fit of my HGTs felt tighter, what i liked more. I liked the fit of the Summit 7 though, but its not my glove...Think I'll stay with my HGTNylons ...by the way, where did u buy them..I payed 70€..!

Oh another german here. Where are you from? I assume somewhere in the south when you went into the Hockeycorner store. (I guess we can work this out in a PM..) I hope the Mods dont expect some kind of invasion... uh that was a bad joke ;)

A friend of mine (who owns a hockeystore) who owed me a favor got me good price, so im not complaining getting them for this price.

Its nice to know that you recommend the HGT Nylons while also coming from the 15s.

Yes. Let me know what you need and I could possibly get someone else to go into the order with you.

just wondering if SVEN ever got those gloves. I've been looking into these recently. I currently have some HGT's that I bought a couple years ago and it's time for new gloves.. seems like the R8's would fit similar to what I'm used to w/ the HGT. for me, its either the R8 or the NBH Pro-4 roll.. I'd get some more HGT's but none of my LHS has them nor can I find them online, all I've seen is the HGT2 Bionic or something like that for $80.. another question, I see online the pro-stock R8's but in all the pics they look leather instead of nylon, but from this thread it seems that the pro-stocks should have nylon versions..

hi hapamatt122

think Sven or his friend got those from the importeur here in Germany :

http://hockeycorner.de/product_info.php?in...Handschuhe.html

I also bought them last month there...but still thinking about to change to the R8 after i tried them on(was a sample)...i just wait til they are in stock end of June here in Germany and decide then...but Sven got his ONE90s i think...?

to mrusse01: this can't be...althought we pay about 260$ for the one90 gloves...so i feel kind a 'justified'...but stop no way...!has to be typo...or European 're-import'...!
