Is it better to have a snug glove or loose glove

Recommended Posts

I am just wondering if having a more snug glove is better than a more loose fitted glove.

Ex.Loose- Vapor x

Snug-CCM 10.0 I think/another ex. ONe90

Thanks

I had a TPS glove and I really couldn't get comfortable with the looser fit.

I now have a pair of the Team Canada RBK 5K gloves, which are not tight, but certainly snug. I was also using a pair of CCM Vector 4's, again, snug fitting, and Mission HE750.

I have tried on a friends One90's and they are a great feel, but the Rbk I find are a fantastic fit, for me.

Nice and snug without being restrictive

Basically it's a matter of personal preference. Some like em loose and others like em tight. Short cuffs, long cuffs, different palms e.t.c. Feel and protection are the most important things when it comes to gloves i.m.o.

Hey what's up, my first post. Always loved my snug XX, thought I would try something different, bought Eagles & MIA22(should have bought 11) and had to go back to a new pair of XX, for my money the best snug glove. I can't understand how guys can wear gloves so loose, but they feel the same way about my gloves. I don't think there is a better, only best for you.

Hey welcome to the site I am relatively new also. I had a pair of x's which have rips in them but also the cuff opens up way to much and thats how I broke my wrist from a kid that slashed me it would have been just a normal slash no biggy if my cuff was more tight fitting so i am going for a snug glove which i found the CCM v10.0 or something like a ONE90

Thanks for the help

i use bauer 5000's and love the loose feel.

i have never played in the snug fitting ones so i don't know, but i think my hands would get more hot and sweaty in tight fitting gloves. I found the vectors and XX comfortable trying them on though.

btw for the record:

Tight = NBH Supreme

"Med-tight" = CCM Vector, RBK, Vapor XV/XX, Vapor XXX(medium tight fit but huge cuff flair), TPS R8, Warriors, Salming, Missions

"Med-loose" = Eastons, Most TPS

Loose = Eagle, MIA, NBH SDP/5000/4-roll, CCM Tacks

Off the top of my head I can't remember whether SWD was medium loose or loose, I believe they were med-loose. BTW that is the exclusive TBLfan tightness rating system, PP. :P

And yes, I try on every glove I can.

hey some people are good with skates, some with sticks, some are ridiculous with patterns(Mack is amazing when it comes to patterns), my deal happens to be gloves. Glad to help.

I'm pretty good at describing the fit of gloves, it comes with being a glove whore... Just don't bother asking me about pants, shins or shoulder pads because if I don't own them I don't know crap about them.

Eagle X72s are med-tight if you leave the pad in the back of the hand. Not to mention the slightly tapered fingers.

Hey Chadd, if you took the pad out of the X72's, they would feel like traditional Eagles (loose) right? IMO the X72 glove seemed very tight-fitting.

Also the new 4-roll feels medium loose with the dri-fit pad on the back of the hand, I assume that when you sweat that it gets smaller and feels slightly looser... kind of like the HGT Pros. :)

I actually haven't had the chance to try on the X72s but it was more of a generalization than anything. I have x-50s and I'd consider them med-loose if anything, they aren't THAT loose, not SDP loose. Much like anything given on MSH, the information points you in the right direction to limit your search for the right gear, not giving you the ultimate answer on what to buy. :)

Agreed. I had a chance to try a pair on and I was surprised how tight fitting it was for an eagle glove.

And yes if you take the padding off it will feel like traditional eagles....atleast it felt like my old x46s.

I like my gloves big, but i have really long fingers and a small palm so i kina have to. I feel that when my wrists are free i can move my stick better but get a stick with different gloves and see what feels good.

^^Have you tried something like a Vapor XX or XV? NBH gloves have a bit longer fingers than most. That's the glove I'd recommend if you thought you might want to try a tighter fitting glove.

^I bet you love your salming gloves then! ;) The split cuff is nice and mobile, it almost feels as free for movement as the Vapor XXX but without all that exposed skin. Like I said before, the Salming gloves I've tried were very nice. But they were a bit pricey and at a shop that shall remain nameless... asshats.

I, personally, love a tighter fitting glove (NBH Supreme70), but it all depends on your preferences. I also, strangely enough, like to have some room in my fingers (don't like them to touch the ends), so I usually choose a glove with bigger fingers (again, NBH Supremes).

IMO Eagles are the most comfortable. They're not the most protective or durable but they give freedom of movement and are extremely soft. I've had the x50i, x70i, now I have the H70's and am getting a pair of M70's. The biggest problem is the palms wear out before anything else. I always pull the pad on the top of the hand out to give me more room. Just a PP. Eagles also take a while to get the way you want in color and everything, but I think they're worth the wait.

As pretty much everyone here has said, glove fit is all personal preference. However, the tighter your gloves fit in the fingertips, the easier it will be to move the fingers, and the looser they fit in the wrist/cuff, the easier it will be to move your wrist.

I think it's safe to say what we learned here is, the best fitting glove is long cuffed, tight fitting glove, with short fingers, and a shortened cuff, loose on the hand, with long fingers.

You want the material to be a nylony leather type.

See, that was simple :)

And, it's a given that any glove worth its salt has five fingers on it. Can't forget the leathery material on the palms either, or else its just not worth buying.
