RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted June 26, 2007 This is just sad. I grew up watching the Rabid Wolverine battle through hell and earn the respect of his opponents, colleagues, and fans. I always thought he was one of the more classy and respectable performers in wrestling. I can only wonder what all of the punnishment he went through during his career contributed to his downfall (assuming the reports of murder suicide are true). As for Vincent McMahon, I think the whole limo bomb was a publicity stut and that he was not harmed. He will be back.Yeah...the "Vince is dead" storyline is pretty much over seeing as how he lead off RAW in the ring last night...From all the talk last night of the "family man" and how good he was with his kids...etc...etc...I'm thinking WWE didn't know many details when they went to air...or it may have been a very different show last night. The house show he skipped on Sunday due to "personal issues"...IF the alleged timeline is accurate, he had already killed his wife, and maybe his son by then. This is going to get sadder as it all becomes public. willc7786 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2007 I'm just in complete shock. Benoit, as you could see in the interviews with wrestlers last night, was always known as a complete stand up guy and a family guy. I haven't watched wrestling in a long time, but I watched last night since when I did watch, Benoit was one of my favorites. He never seemed like a complete roid-head, and the guy could seriously wrestle. He wasn't someone that got by because of his ability to talk to the crowd (in fact he was horrible on the mic) or to entertain, he got everything because he worked his ass off and was a true wrestler.I can't even imagine what must have happened to make him snap and do that to his family

Hidious 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2007 I was touched by the tribute they made for Benoit yesterday and i was planning on posting about how a good he was and blablabla ... but now that i know it was a double murder, it just makes me sick. A 3hours tribute for a f*cking murderer, i hope they didn't know when they made it. "Chris was such a great family guy, he raised his kids so well, etc." Yea right. kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted June 26, 2007 Thats a loaded statement, dont you think? You dont know that he wasnt a great family man. Sadly, Sometimes people just snap. Could have been severe depression, Roid rage, who knows?

Hidious 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2007 I understand there could have been lots of excuses for his act but i don't care. I'm not a fan of "non-guilty due to mental illness" judgements.

I used to work with a guy who was a local "Professional" wrestler, and his club had a Family & Friends night where we could go and learn the basics. Taking a bump...running the ropes...simple holds. We each had to put together a 5-10 minute "match" with a partner and do a little bit of a promo. It was damn hard work. And, to top it off I played hockey later that night. I could barely move my legs and was sore for 3-4 days after. You can say they aren't athletes if you want, but don't say they aren't athletic.

You can say they aren't athletes if you want, but don't say they aren't athletic. There is a difference between an athletic activity and a sport. Wrestlers and figure skaters are athletes, pro wrestling and figure skating are not sports but do require a high degree of athleticism. I have no problem with the guy killing himself, in fact we're probably better off without him, I just don't get the "control freak" thing that makes him take out other people first. Datsyukiandeek 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2007 There is no reason for a guy to look like this:To accomplish what they actually do in the ring. Its not like boxing, where size would actually have an advantage. Its just a choreographed "fight".95% would be persona, 5% would be athletic ability. They get that big for the sales, nothing else. It doesn't take a steroid crazed gorrilla to jump around in the ring, using fake props and fake blood to put on some dramatic event.I can't believe people actually watch this trash. Lfntn10 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2007 Well I guess there won't be any more chokeslams or sleeperholds in the WWF now.the WWE is probably going to bury Benoit's legacy. Right now they have a banned moves list, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of his signature moves ended up on that list (his diving headbutt, crossface, triple german suplexes) etc.I find this whole situation hard to believe. I grew up watching this guy since he was on WCW and I absolutely idolized him. He was by far my favorite wrestler of all time. After hearing the news last night, I was very shocked (I wanted to see the results to RAW since I came from open hockey). I didnt want to believe anything. Now hearing the details, I don't know what to think anymore. It just feels weird to know that the athlete you idolized since 5th grade, winds up to be a murderer in the end. usahockey22 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2007 This guy was a known wife beater, and they also found illegal steroids in his home...real role model. It's also pretty funny how the fellow "wrestlers" on TV are saying how WWE is so strict on steroids...sure, I mean just look at those guys, there's nothing to clue us in on the fact that they've got illegal levels of testosterone flowing through their veins. mack 44 Report post Posted June 27, 2007 Uh oh, it's going to suck to be one of Barry Bonds's or Sammy Sosa's kids at this point. I'd have mentioned Mark McGwire's kid but he's probably reached Galactus-like size by now.

Actually with as big as some of these guys have gotten they do need the strength that comes along with that size to pull off some of the moves they employ. RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted June 27, 2007 WWE.com has left the main news details, but removed the tribute type material from the site, and before the ECW show tonight McMahon went on to basically say "The tribute we did last night was done before we knew what really happened" The show went on tonight with no other mention of Benoit.http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/benoitpressreleaseThey've also started the damage control with respect to the role steroids may have played in this.
