Green si core?

Recommended Posts

So today i went to sportchek to get some tennis over grips and while i was there i checked out some sticks and what i thought was just an old green st was actually a green sicore.. i was thinking of buying one but the only curve they had was the lidstrom. Then i got to thinking that sportchek was at one point selling Tps Response plus which were not actually response plus'. I was wondering if these were the actual real deal si core just in a differnt color or some kind of fake mock up that sport chek got made for them. They were grip aswell but they had a nice grip that wasnt to tacky not the usuall extremmly tacky easton grip.

He said it WASN'T an ST. If I remember correctly, there were talks a long time ago on CB that when Easton was first designing the Si-Core there was a blue one and a green one. I don't know if these are "extras" or if they are SMU's.

That's all I know on the subject but I swear way back when that Easton was experimenting with different colors and green was one.

I actually saw that on the website was thinking of picking it up...a ST for 129 thats a steal. Guess not.

So what stick would that one be?

They do have actual green ST Grips. However, they also have pro stock Sicores with the ST green paint with Si Core graphics, too.

Could it be an original Synergy? I remember some members posted that the Si-Cores from Sport Chek were original Synergies because they lacked the silicon in the blade.

Although most of the OPS at Sportchek are "fake", the Synergys are certainly not. I've got a few friends that work at sportchek so they usually point out the fakes so I don't get ripped off.

Pretty much all of the TPS "high end" branded OPS i.e Response Rubber, Adrenaline Control, Response Plus, etc. They are all price point sticks that Sportchek had branded with previous year's high-end graphics. Basically they are cheap sticks made mainly with fiberglass.

There was a thread about it a while back starting with some player using a green stick. We found a better picture of him and it WAS a green sicore.

This stick is definitely a "True" Easton Synergy. The SI-Core model was released in 2004. The Green colour is the original grip and the Orange colour is the original non grip. Sport Chek has been selling these sticks for well over a year now for $129.99 which is a good deal considering they use to retail close to $279.99.

I have bought 2 non grip Si-Core's there in the past year and they are a nice durable stick if you can find the curve you want. My buddy who has been using the Green Grip since Junior a few years ago still swears buy this twig and picks up a bunch anytime he see's his curve.

I used to work at sportchek and they get a lot of smu sticks, but also they get alot of proreturns, these sticks are real and not a cheap make up. also if you want a good deal, lots of times they will give you buy one get one half price even on ops. Usually the young kids will do it for you as they want the commission from the sale. 2 goods stick for 200$ cant beat that.

Someone check with the FTC. Isn't that illegal?

No question about it....relabeling like that is ABSOLUTELY illegal. TPS can relabel them and try and sell them as something otherwise, but the retailer cannot alter merchandise to present it as something different.

How (technically speaking) can SportChek even do that? I doubt they have some secret manufacturing facility somewhere where they are able to re-paint sticks...this whole story reeks of BS.

I was always told that since sportchek has such a huge buying power then that easton makes them the sticks to be identical to the good ones so they would sell.

It's unethical but not illegal. As long as they are shown as the 2007 model and not passed off as old stock, there is nothing legally wrong with what they are doing.

i would understand the prostock green sicores because pros can get alot of what the general public cant. but these were full retail versions all with the lidstrom curve though.

I can't see how this wouldn't be illegal. Retailers can't trick people into thinking they're buying something they're not.

Unless of course we are talking about these being pro stock sticks they are selling-- IE a few years ago when the Si-Core was being hyped up and NHLers may not have been using one, but the stick was painted like it. Or Poti's aluminum "z-bubbles." But I don't think many NHLers would say "Hey give me a price point stick, but paint it like a high end model"

like chadd said, as long as it is a discontinued stick and they call it the 2007 model, not the 06, 05 (whatever it originaly was) their asses are safe legaly. It's definitely not ethical but there is nothing that can be done about it. just be careful what you buy <_<

so yes, retailers can trick people into thinking they're buying something they're not. so long as they dont say it's the exact same stick, they can call it whatever they want. an "07 si core" may be a piece of shit, whereas an "04 si core" was top of the line.

i'd say it's just as bad, possibly worse, that TPS would go ahead and paint their pricepoints like the older top notch stuff.

everything comes down to making money in the end.
