Stealth S17

When I went to the rink that's about an hour from my house today to get fitted for some new Grafs, I was talking to the owner about the S17...he said that there have been numerous kids that bought them, cut and taped them, and were back in the store midway through practice with a broken stick. I played around with one and noticed that the 100 flex felt as whippy as my 77 flex Vapor XXX...therefore I have no problem believing that someone who is used to a typical 100 flex stick would snap that almost instantly.

I just broke mine tonight in the first actual game that I've used it in. I loved this stick, but I am not sure that it is all that durable. It broke at the top of the elliptical section on a slapshot. I've only broken 3 stick in the shaft on shots. I usually break blades due to wear and tear from faceoffs and such. I'll have to wait and see how the warranty replacement does before I judge these sticks. It was best shooting stick I've used thus far. Pucks just took off with minimal input.

Just went back from bruin's game tonight

Seems that most of the players use S17

(2 were broken tonight by the way)

Is the stick so good?

It has been mentioned before that some of the players are using their same Easton sticks as previous seasons with a S17 paint scheme. Not all of them are the ellipse style sticks. As I mentioned above, the 100 flex felt as whippy as my 77 flex XXX...and at one of the rinks in the area they have been getting a lot of returns within 1 session of purchase and most have been snapped in the new ellipse taper area or right above it where it becomes the regular shaft shape. IMO this stick needs some further development and was pushed a bit too hard for the Christmas season.

Edit: Not to start another discussion, but I'm still upset at the B's play in that game, didn't appear they were sticking to the tight defensive system they have been playing.

cough9k"o"cough

at least they kept pushing back the release date until the problems were fixed...apparently not so with the S17.....

More than likely a lot of them are just painted like S17's to get the publicity out there of their new stick because if I can flex a 100 flex S17 in the store by just flicking my wrists and not leaning on the shaft (like some kids do in the stores), I am sure a NHL caliber player would snap these like twigs.

i thought that a stick is more likely to break if it is TOO stiff, because it is brittle...i know that if a stick is wayyy to whippy it'll break, but i think stiffer sticks are more likely to break...correct?

That's amazing because the one Easton sent me is stiffer than any 100 flex I've ever seen.

I am dead ass serious, I was toying around with one at a Play It Again in the area and comparing it to the 100 flex from last year and the 100 from last year was what, in my mind, a typical 100 flex feels like. I then picked up an 85 SE Elite they had and the new S17 in 100 flex felt whippier than that still. I said it a few posts back: I think they just pushed to hard to make the holiday deadline and there are a lot of inconsistencies and flaws with this stick still, I'm sure within a few months they will work the kinks out and it will be a l33t stick though.

I put the butt end on the bottom step at my house and the blade on the floor and stood on the middle of the shaft of mine. It flexed but didn't crack.

The S17 that I had was quite comparable to the 85 flex SE's and 77 flex XXX Lites I've used. Definitely didn't feel like a true 100, however that didn't bother me at all as I like something a little whippier anyway.

The S17 doesnt feel like a 100 flex because it is NOT a true 100 flex at retail length... It tells you on the shaft.

That explains a lot...it's a good thing these websites exist for us asshats that don't pay attention to detail
