I doubt they wear game helmets in practice, and if you think about how some teams have third jerseys, they are really only wearing each helmet a maximum of 30 times or so. stevo 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 I highly doubt that pro's go through that many helmets in a season. I have noticed that some NHLers have a glossy look to their helmets. I'm willing to bet that most guys have a home and away helmet and use the same one for the year...unless they're experimenting with a new helmet or sign an endorsement deal with a new manufacturer (in the Leafs case, I suppose they all needed a green helemt for when they used those green St. Patty's jerseys).
