Super Jock Itch

Recommended Posts

I played hockey this summer in China. When I came back to Canada, my jock itch reappeared and spread around my body. Thighs, calves, hips, neck, forearms, shoulders...thank god it didn't come close to the face. The Doc said it was fungal something and it's VERY irritating.

It's itchy as hell. I went on antibiotics for ten days and it slowed do wn, the prescribed lotions and shampoo do nothing. Suggestions? My body is a war zone. I need this gone in 4 weeks before I go to a resort with my gf.

While I have never heard or had it as severe as you are describing......Gold Bond Medicated dousing the area a few times a day did the trick for me. Hope it or something helps you out....it sounds horrible!!

are you sure it's from China, maybe you need a new girlfriend...

It sounds like infentigo (sp). If it is it's nasty and painfulful

Well it's not on that area just everywhere else. Thanks, will look into 'impetigo'. The Doc said it was just a fungal infection that spread but won't scar. Sounds disgusting and it is... :puke: It does match some of the symptoms of impetigo but thankfully not on the hands, face or anything visible.

His mitts looked like extra crispy fried chicken!

I just saw that right after I had Popeye's for lunch. Thankfully, you're right, they do look more like the Colonel's extra crispy recipe than Popeye's spicy Cajun.

Getting back to the original post, I agree with TBL. Get as much info from your doctor before you seek the expert advice of hockey players. Try to get a referral to a dermatologist. I think because it's a fungal thing, that means that certain approaches may have no affect whatsoever. Because of that, you might be wasting a whole lot of time if you're not using the correct means to treat the condition.

Good lord, that guy looks like he's turning into a reef.

To the original poster: second the above post. Get yourself to a dermatologist ASAP. It's oh so sweet that you want this gone before a trip with your girl, but taking care of your personal health may be a nice motivation too, I'd think :P

i had a rash on my arms. it started as just dry skin but i kept scratching it and made it worse. this was while i had a sprained ankle. after i started playing again i guess the bacteria or whatever from my elbow pads infected the rash and turned into some fungus thing. they prescribed me some anti fungus steroid cream and it cleared it right up.
