Black Friday is near!

Recommended Posts

Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year with great deals. This year doesn't seem as hot as previous years, looking at the ads on http://bfads.net/ and such. Who's lining up this year to buy stuff? Also do the hockey e-tailers have sales?

Personally for me, I'm looking for a LCD 37-42". Maybe a GPS system also but that's if I find a great deal.

What's everyone else planning to get and at which stores? or if you have had any previous experience with lining up.

Uggh...not me. The ridiculous crowds on shopping days are one of the very few things that freak me out. I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack around all those people running around and bumping into each other.

I will be working and hopefully I'll sell a lot and make a lot of money. Days like this is the reason why commission is awesome.

I line up every year just for the heck of it. I get a little bit of shopping done, but it's mostly for myself, lol. Last year was nice too cause I bought tons of software cheap and made a profit on it on eBay =X It was like the new Microsfot Flight Sim that pretty much no one really cared about so I grabbed a couple of them since I knew how much they retail normally. Seing how $15 turned into $45 right quick...

I generally make a little list when the ads come in the paper on Thursday, and I hurry around trying to get everything I want. Not much I want this year though cept for maybe an external HD.

Myself and my wife normally try to avoid going shopping on black friday, but at the minute we are upgrading some stuff, so looking for a HDTV, a HD DVD player, and perhaps a GPS system, but thats not really important

I'll be at work. Luckily I work at a hotel so it'll be dead.

I never have gone out on black Friday, mom and grandma always do and they come back pissed and tired and don't make me any dinner, so I don't see what the big hoopla is about :)

what exactly is black friday?

Day after Thanksgiving, the first day of the Holiday retail season.

Sorta like Boxing Day sales in Canada.

That being said, I've never set foot in a store on Black Friday.

I'll be in Canada paying way too much for all the shit I buy like always. Boxing day sales here are nothing like Black Friday. Their idea of a blowout sale here on boxing day is like "10% off all Christmas decorations!"... Of course, my mental picture of Black Friday is "Free plasma screen TV with purchase of a Snickers bar," so there's that to keep in mind. But I was just looking at that Black Friday website and drooling, because nothing is ever on sale like that here.

I splurged for my HDTV in January only to see the price basically get cut in half since. The evil voices in my head are weighing the merits of adding another TV. But honestly, if you don't get a TV on Black Friday they're only getting cheaper with time.

Can't say I've ever had a positive Black Friday experience. Know too many people that camp out, miss out on their big ticket items and end up buying $5 DVDs that they have no intention of watching.

last year's ads were way better. no way im gonna sit out there this year. Around here (louisville, ky) you better line up soon if you want anything. Got there at 4pm last year, and was 10th in line. Got what i wanted though, but not worth it this year...

Well there's some nice stuff to be picked up right now online even...

Just grabbed a 1GB SD card for free on Buy.com. It'll come in handy if I can get my hands on a new camera. Idk if they always do this but they are giving $10 off if you pay with Google checkout, and free shipping too.

Think everyone in my family who has a credit card just got new flash drives for free!

the things we suffer through eh?

our dollar is worth what? 6 cents more than theirs? were paying $300 for a XXXlite still, down there, ive seen it for $150.

to stay on topic though, if there werent a million other people rushing to get to Macy's or whatever before me and ready to kill me for the last Martha Stuart brand Christmas tree, i would love the idea of black Friday. in fact, i do wish we had it(or possibly some decent boxing day sales).

A few friends and I last night at midnight this outlet center near us opened we decided to go because we had nothing else to do. Drove out there was stuck in traffic for about an hour my friend almost got a date. We got to the exit ramp and decided to just turn around and go home. It just wasn't worth in. On the way back we clocked the traffic it was backed up for 7 miles.
