Hasek sucks

Recommended Posts

Let's put it this way - if a defenseman double-stacked his shin pads and slid at a skater on a breakaway, would that be a trip? I think that'd be an easy call regardless of if he got the puck first.

Exactly.

The proper call was made, end of story.

Well.... I agree that the assessing of a two minute minor was correct, but i don't quite understand why it was a trip instead of clipping.

Well, trip is what they would call in football for a leg sweep.

All the bad memories of Hasek are suddenly coming back...him throwing a blocker at Bondra...dislodging the net as a defensive maneuver...throwing a stick ("oops it slipped out of my hand") to make a save...double pad stack leg tackle...ugh....

The best Hasek moment was when he took a dive last year and got scored on while flat on his back. Then Babcock b!tched him out in the press.

I doubt we are all "Wild fans" -- but you are very obviously the Detroit homer we pegged you to be so many weeks ago.

Get off of it. It was a stupid, dangerous play. End of story. Someone could have been hurt very badly because Hasek made a boneheaded decision. He's so fucking good? He can stay in his net and stop an actual shot.

Yeah. Hasek sucks.

How long did it take you to look all that crap up? Or do you have a plaque in your bedroom listing every single achievement Hasek has made since his days in minor hockey. The world may never know.

Here's another list of Haseks "achievements" (although i wasnt able to copy and paste these off wikipedia)

1. Throwing his stick to make a save

2. Being an absolute plug in Ottawa

3. Almost breaking Gaboriks neck

4. His attempt at the english language

This certainly isn't getting out of hand.

Just look at the NHL.com stats leaders and you will see that not only is Osgood the better goalie in Detroit right now (2nd in the league in GAA if I remember correctly), but Hasek is well on his way to retirement anyhow. This is useless bickering.

I actually thought it was a great play and probably wouldn't have been a penalty at all if it was closer to the net. That far out and with Gabby doing a complete flip, they had to do something I guess.

As for it being a trip, not clip. It was directly from the front and therefore a trip. A clip implies a play from the side or the back and this situation obviously doesn't fit that description.

Don't forget the multiple DWIs, the yet greater number of groin injuries and the good coach he forced out of Buffalo a few years back.

I really don't know much about goalies and goalie coaching so you can take what I have to say with a grain of salt, but I've really only seen goalies come out that far in a game when it's almost a race to the puck situation.

From what I see here Gaborik receives a nearly a tape-to-tape pass at the blue line and keeps it relatvely close to himself as he settles it down. If I got to question Hasek about the play I'd ask at what point he thought that "charging for the puck" was the best decision in the way that scenario played out.

There are different ways to look at it. In an attempt to reason, suppose Hasek saw the play developing and decided to dash out of the crease when he saw the puck leaving the passer's stick. There are chances that it would have been off mark in which case Hasek would have made it to the puck first or it could have been chipped ahead by Gaborik in which case it's the race for the puck sitation, a little like the

(but not really).

Otherwise if he decided dash out of the crease after Gaborik received the pass (which IMO was the case) then I'd call complete douchebaggery (sp?) on Hasek, since what actually happenned was that it was nearly a clean pass with no reason (for safety sake) for Hasek to be charging at the play (there is no race for the puck, it's not loose, Gaborik has it on his stick).

In most instances I've seen where goalies decide to come out that far to make a play it's basically a race for the puck, but here Gaborik receives a nearly clean breakaway pass and while Hasek dashes for him (Gaborik) and basically turtles up.

I'm sure everyone agrees Gabby should have had his head up, there's no doubt about that, but was what Hasek did classless? I think so.

Two questions:

Would it have been better if Hasek had thrown a body check like a defenseman?

Didn't Hasek make contact with the puck first?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with what Hasek did in this situation from what I can see.

It's a chickenshit play by hasek. Someone better have ran his ass in front of the net on the PP on the wild. The biggest issue I have is throwing his legs out there on the pad stack.

Carbreezy, the charge from the net does not even begin to address the goalie coaching points that need to be talked about with hasek. Hasek had quite the knack to keep pucks out of the net, but he's getting old, and just isn't cutting it anymore. He's yesterday's news, and his playing style isn't getting any better with time.

You all seem to be highlighting the point.

Hasek isn't in his prime. If he faces Gaborik 1 on 1, there will be a goal. He is terrible at reading dekes and making reaction plays on shootouts and breakaways. He knows his skill, knows he has a bad chance of stopping the shooter, so he takes the play to him.

If he stood him up, there would be hell to pay on him for delivering a hit. Look at his stick when he comes up. It looks to me he isn't even sure what the hell he's going to do until he slides out, covers his head in case Gaborik goes to that side so as to not take a skate to the face.

If Gaborik hadn't flipped like that, this wouldn't be worth talking about and no one would have Hasek's name in their head.

It's Hasek's job to keep the puck out of the net...

Did the keep the puck out of the net on this play?

Yes! You may not be a fan of his method, but he did his job.

who cares if he came out of his net to make a save instead of waiting for the shooter to come to him, I'm sorry but I don't think anything was wrong with what happened. Sure it was a penalty, it got served, end of story. Gaborik should of had his head up but he didn't so what....I wouldn't mind seeing more goalies challenging the shooters, cause it would be kinda funny to see. All in all who you guys are such cry babies, Hasek sucks because he is doing what he is getting paid to do and win, who cares what the score is either. They are professional athletes playing to win a game, not have fun. The guys on here that are posting how much they hate Hasek are pissing me off cause you guys sound like 8 year old girls whining because they didn't a pony for their birthday, just shut the hell up already

Your personal opinioin: "I don't think anything was wrong with what happened"

My personal opinion: "He could have seriously injured Gabs when Detroit was already blowing them out"

No need to start chirpin at the rest of the board cause you dont agree with us saying Haseks a washed up duster

Could it have been a penalty shot? should it have been? one one one with the goalie and a penalty is commited?

Not a penalty shot situation. Contact was made and the play was broken before Gaborik got hit. For a penalty shot, there must be a penalty and the consequence of it causes the forward to not be able to get a shot away.
