What is hockeymonkey's deal?

Recommended Posts

They are taking forever to update me on some gloves I ordered. Nothing shows up on their order status page, no shipping confirm. Is this their normal MO? I know it says 1-3 days for processing ground orders, but 12 days is ridiculous.

When I ordered from Goalie Monkey before Xmas, I ordered on the 10th and got the shipment on the 24th! Every item was substituted before it shipped as well. I didn't care because they were mostly color things, and they did call, but the wait time was killing me. I would think twice next time I need stuff, especially for a 6 yr old's present!

edit: I say this under the assumption that they are the same company.

they are

and just take a look at MOST of the orders on the Mission Pro Stock Blades thread...

most of them were sent wrong items, includign missing shafts, wrong blades, etc

seems like they realize they make mistakes and do their best to correct..try calling them

Yeah, that's always the best shot and they seem to be all right in the customer service dept. though I'll wait till I see my shafts show up in the mail. If I were smart I would have ordered some more blades since I assume they'd still ship for free.

i don't use hockeymonkey as much anymore (although i did just buy 4 stealths from them) because i called to order some tackla's in the long version. it even says on hm website 'available in long and short versions'. the sales rep wouldn't order them for me. i asked why does the website say they are available then? she replied 'thats only if we currently have some in stock' i ended up just special ordering them from totalhockey.net. i was really upset that they wouldn't special order them for me...especially after saying they are available on the website.

I always dust off my HM experience in these types of threads. Back when I got back into playing hockey 6 or so years ago, I ordered all my gear head to toe from HM. Waited a good month before I called them to ask what's up. Turns out, it was all packaged and ready to deliver...but was never actually put into the mail. Ever since then, I refuse to order from them and now frequent my LHS or other reputable puck sites.

Wow, I met the owner of HM at the NBH Dealer Summit and I thought he really cared about hockey, his customers, and your passion for the game! Yeah, right...........

Oh, wait, he cared about his bottom line, getting your money, and well, that's about all he cared about.

Ya hear him howlin around your kitchen door, ya better not let him in.

Little old lady got mutilated late last night, werewolves of London again.

Aaahoo, werewolves of London

Aaahoo

HM has their issues, but sometimes they just have the right thing that is just too good to pass up. I'd definitely deal with my LHS over anywhere online... but if I have to find something online I first check out EWH and IW.

HM > HG

I've ordered lots of stuff from monkey, mostly goalie related (I get everything I possibly can at my LHS), and I haven't had any problems. You can't expect a company that is as big as they are to be free of error. Too bad you don't hear much from the hundreds of people who are satisfied with their orders; they are too busy enjoying their gear :P

I gotta say HM is the lesser of two evils when compared to HG. I'll only go with either of them when there's a great deal to be had, but HM screws you with their "deals" because they're sold out long before they're posted on the site.

Never had bad experiences with either, but HG ships faster.

HG > HM

shops are always better, though. lucky to have a few in the area.

When I've ordered whatever limited brands I can get from the states I've found Hockey Giant always ships to me faster and has the product that they are advertising on their site. I'd go with them first.

I've had issues with both sites, HG is like pulling teeth. They are all about bait and switch, the wont even offer you a discount when you "buy" an out-of-stock clearance item.

HM isn't the easiest to deal with but at least they try to make you happy.

we were both looking for a large 8500 cage and that was the only place we could find one. They told us both they didnt have them in stock and weren't very kind about it. But we could wait a couple months and they'd ship it to us when they could.

I finally found one from the douchebags are total hockey.

i've had a couple issues with both giant and monkey. nothing serious, just gets annoying. But icewarehouse has been fantastic so far.

I just hate that giant tries to ship from 2 different locations. Twice now the minnesota one never got the info from CA on what to ship me. Took a month to get some compression shorts to Kentucky. But having giant match prices is tricky. They bill you for their price, once your bank accepts, they charge you the adjusted price. Thats how its supposed to work anyway. But its nice when your bank calls you and says that giant is charging me the initial price, adjusted price, and adjusted price again. Basically they charged me about 300 for some vapor XX gloves. I told my bank just the cheapest one is okay, but giant kept submitting charges. Basically because they tried to charge my debit card overall 5 times, i got the gloves, they wrote them off, and my bank told them to screw off. win-win :D

yeah, i dont have a LHS, but have made it up to Pan Am plaza and really like that place, but its about a 2 hr drive away, so its not always practical. Havent had any experience with hockeyworld yet. I like ebay, just hard to find exactly what i want.

Im probably gonna order some of those pro stock shafts and blades over at monkey in the next few days... we'll see how that goes
