Radio, good call I was about to say the same about Gilette, that was great, this game is awesome, it feels like the playoffs. I'm not condoning Kovy on that elbow but I think Holweig moved down a bit, none the less horseshit retaliation, i hope he gets a few. I think this 3rd period is huge for the Habs, if they lose everyother team will know to play physical aginst them to win. If they win they prove that they can hold up to the physical grind of playoff games.

Hrudey says 3G for Kovy...10G for Holweg. He must be new to the league....he should know that won't happen.

Kovalev won't get 3 although he probably should. Holweg may get 10, between the fact that he went on the ice with no intent other than to hurt someone and the fact hat he is a repeat offender I could see 10, but 5 is more likely.

Kovalev had a dirty game against the Rangers. That hit against Ryan Hollweg (44) was not called 4. I am not saying Hollweg's hit on Sergei was clean(at all) but Kovalev had an off game which made him pissed.

On a seperate note, the Rangers had very mad calls against them. Sergei's penalty shot should not have been because it was his stick that got knocked away, not his hand like he professed, and if anyone noticed the ref called Hooking until Drury complained, and then called a PS.

Francois Boulion fighting Colton Orr...Thank god the refs broke it up, because he would still be spitting out Orr's fist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, Mike Komisarek,I am very surprised him and Avery didn't go at it in the final period (the cheap hit at the end of the second period). Avery would have smoked him.

Anyone, Rangers come from behind 3 goals to win 5-3

holloweg is a peice of shit

"Hollweg is a piece of shit" - Think What you wanna think....

That must make Kovalev a big dirty piece of shit

RadioGaga: You don't think Orr would have put up a good fight?????Interesting, I thought he would have untill Boulion backed away from Orr, and Orr pulled him back and the refs broke it up....

extreme shot, you really think avery would stand a chance against komisarek...good luck. The Rangers were taking liberties early and other than the elbow it was fairly called. As for Orr, overatted imo, Boullion wasn't lucky he's strong on his skates, and would put up a fight every time.

All I could think about watching this game was when Avery got socked 3 times in "The Rocket"

Don't get me wrong...Komisraek is good on his feet, but Avery is more tuff, and Orr would have smoked Boulion. Boulion backed away, and Orr pulled him back

well to be fair here Bouillion is a top 4 defenceman for the club and Orr's 3rd, 4th line? it's his job.

Extreme, the different between Kovalev and Holloweg is so big that it is laughable that you compare them both. Holloweg cant carry Kovalevs jock, and I even think Kovy might be able to hold his own hand to hand with him as well.

Kovy can play with an edge to his game which in my opinion every good hockey player needs to have a bit of mean streak. Difference is Kovy can put up big numbers and doesnt run people all day every day.

Why is that surprising? Both of them are guys who people think are tough, but do their best to avoid real fights.

Alexi Kovalev, Is a great hockey player..

Hollweg ran S.Kostitsyn no doubt about it, but their is a differance between edge and dirty and Kovalev played dirty that game.

Yes, but that doesn't mean he can elbow people at will either.

I'll be frank...When Bure took down Churla many years ago I thought "Good, he had it coming." When Kovy took out Tucker, "good..." Today, same thing. As I may complain about it, sometimes it happens and it is warrented. Now I don't want people twisting my words here. But when you have marginal players or agitators trying to hurt superstars, I appreciate when the stars turn the tables, assuming they are being targeted for injury which was the case. Hollweg hit Kovalev hard and that was Kovalev's response. It was chicken shit, cheap, and deserves a suspension and why Hollweg made the following check- which was twice as worst.

So what you're saying is that it's okay as long as it's not a Ranger getting the retaliatory cheapshot.

Hmmm, not really. My whole point was that I don't mind when Kovalev did that twice and when Bure did it because it proves a point, although it should come with consequences. Today it went against the Rangers and I hold to that view. The other two examples I cite are totally unrelated to the Rangers. To be honest, Kovalev should have been on the ice bloodied and that is where Hollweg went wrong

The big difference I see between the acts listed is that Bure's came at an important time and was a statement that got him room to work with in that series. Kovalev isn't going to be treated any differently from here on out other than maybe someone will get him back, which is even worse than the intended result of his action.

I have a big issue with pre-meditated actions AKA Bert, etc. I guess some things are a fine line and some things just don't belong in the game. I can understand Kovalev going after Hollweg after getting hit and then Hollwegs retribution, but it was on the wrong guy and in the wrong manner. I think we can both agree they were selfish plays.

And funny how the a-hole announcers were saying how selfish Hollweg was, when in fact Kovalev was the first to retaliate after being hit clean and he should have gotten at least 2 for that.

Theres gonna be some mixed opinions but I don't think that hit was premeditated at all. I think he planned to hit him and, and at the moment he did take a liberty by putting his elbow to his face but I can't figure that he went into the corner with an intent to elbow his head. It looked as tho Holweig kinda fell back a bit. I'm not for the elbow but I dont think it was intent headed into that hit

You're talking about Kovalev into Hollweg, no question Kovalev wanted to get him back.

1) Hollweg hit him a few moments before

2) Puck was out of the area

3) Kovalev made a beeline to Hollweg

Didn't watch the game, only the TSN highlights, but does this http://youtube.com/watch?v=0oske4tFFmA look familiar? I don't know whats worse, Kovy's cheap shit or his attitude and work ethic.

jesus, the amount of times ive seen you bitch about kovalev is getting ridiculous, where the fuck have you been the past 5 months? he had an awful season last year and is REALLY making up for it this year, shut up already

My opinion on Kovalev is that he's a very clean player. He's strong and heavy, he could probably make some damage if he threw is body around but he's usually just playing the puck. BUT, don't try those cheap shots on him because he gets angry and has a pretty nice flying elbow move he can throw.

And that's justified. If you try to hurt me and miss, i'll try too, my turn. What else do you want to do? Trust the referees to punish the bad guy? Sure, that's like trusting the Canadian justice to handle pedophiles.

Nice to know I have a following, especially from someone named big daddy. Congrats that Kovalev is living up to half of his potential this season, certainly took his sweet ass time. If you're going to sit back and argue that what I've said about Kovalev isn't true, you're an idiot.

Cheap shots are never justified. Thats a Bertuzzi-esque mindset. If someone does something to you and you take exception to it, handle it like a man. Don't elbow someone in the face and skate away. Its never justified, its gutless.

Cheap shots that happen quickly within the same shift at least have a "heat of the moment" justice about them...it's the ones that happen later in the game...or in the next game that really, really bug me. Not saying it's "right" just easier to understand (in my mind at least)

what i'm arguing is your annoying and obvious biased opinion towards him, you obviously just dont like him at all, but you know what, theres a difference between hating someone but giving credit when credit is due, and just deciding to say completly invalid things about them out of spite, kovalev had a shit year, no one can explain why, you can think samsonov had sometihng to do with it, you can think one media problem leading to another lead to him having zero fun, there could be some personal issue on his mind, you can justifiably say he just was a jackass, but that was last year, you cant call him out on his work ethic based on one shit year, he couldve been much better then he has been all his career, but dont confuse arrogance with bad work ethic, he was a little arrogant in his earlier years and took a while to smarten up, he may still have some of those charactersics in him to this day, but you cant call him out for not working hard, the guy has been a horse this year and deserves credit and wants all the best for his team, and i dont believe in stats providing full evidence that he didnt work hard and didnt care for his tea in his early career either

I am not giving Kovalev no credit. He is a hell of a player, but a ass in the same sence. That shot was dirty. It wasn't like he tried to put his elbow in his shoulder, it was flat out shot to the head because he was pissed. Kosydar, you make good points. Being a Rangers Fan, I am totally going to agree, Hollweg deserves a suspenion, but I think Kovalev does as well. Kovalev won't because he is a superstar, and Hollweg won't because his game is all about grit, and he is looked down upon. The refs need to start calling this shit before it gets out of hand even more.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even tho the elbow was cheap I give props for Kovalev. Everyone thinks he's a typical sniper and never likes the physical stuff, but if you mess around he isn't gonna take any shit especially from a player like Hollweig. As a Habs fan it's good to see some emotion in Kovalevs game this year, and he's got the points to back it up.
