24 shooters...1 Goal!

That was a pretty entertaining shoot out. I would have never guessed that I would enjoy a shootout like that with only one goal but it was a good one.

You gotta love seeing Brashear in a shootout.

He has a very hard wrist shot, a little higher and the goalie wouldn't have had a chance.

Yeah I noticed the puck got a little caught up in some snow and he had to look down and gather it, then took the shot. I was really hoping he would be the guy to get the winner.

The win puts the caps to 5 points behind the thrashers for first in the division with 2 games in hand, 4 points of the canes, with 3 games in hand.

And they are entertaining as hell to watch. I'll be up in 421 if anyones going to the panthers game on saturday night in DC

souary took a slap shot in effort to tie it up? i dont even understand what he was thinking

Souray as the 24th shooter...you get what you get. He's no Mike Komisarek...that's for sure.

I believe i am going to be in setion 416. Last nights game had me on the edge of my seat. Its definite the Caps miss Nyles and the Oilers wouldn't go down easy last night.

Great game.

Rolston does that on the Wild. He scored vs. the Wings, but missed the net the other night against the Flames. I think it's awesome to watch him wind up at the top of the circle and blister one past the tendy.

It was a pretty smart decision considering he has a 100 mph slap shot.

The slapshot seems to be a nice change of pace from eveyrone trying dekes. I don't think Souray should've used it to tie the game up but if you go through 5+ rounds of dekes with no one scoring might as well try to slap one on home to through the goalie off routine.

Couple of little tidbits on the shootout/bradley/caps as a team...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...8011703696.html

Bradley, a winger with two goals this season and the locker room jokester, told his teammates as they came off the ice that he plans to hold a shootout clinic today at practice.

"We're never going to hear the end of it," defenseman Mike Green said.

and a little story from boudreau's post game presser (no link)

Bradley had asked Boudreau to put him in the shootout, said "I'll score, I'll score" but was passed over. Gabby put Brashear, and then Erskine into the shootout. When it came to the 12th round Bradley jumped onto the ice. Gabby had not selected him to go, he just went. Then scored.

this is from Mike Vogel, the caps senior reporter

http://dumpnchase.wordpress.com/

“He didn’t even let me say, ‘Don’t go,’” said Boudreau after the game. “He said, ‘I’m going to score. Put me out there.’ He jumped over the boards and went in, did a great move and scored.

“It was fabulous. That’s what we need. You need guys that are going to go out there and not hope to score but know they are. Brads just wanted the puck. I thought it was great for him.”

Caps are really clicking at a good time, hopefully the will win tomorrow too

I'd love to see the quotes from Boudreau if he didn't score and they lost.

"You hate to see that, a guy putting himself ahead of the team. It was really selfish of Brads to do that. Last I checked, it says 'Coach' on the door to my office. Trust me, we'll have a talk, it won't happen again."

I don't think he would have said anything like that publicly. He likes to keep everything in-house.

Sam Gagner tries the same move EVERY SINGLE TIME.

and it usually works. the only reason that kolzig stopped it was because he's so big. he bit completely on the fake, and the only reason he stopped it was because he went to a "safety move"-stretch both legs out back to the posts and hope he doesn't lift the puck. a smaller goalie wouldn't have been able to do it and gagner could have beat him to the post.
