So, heel curve lovers,

On the AKs they have? Not a clue. I checked a week ago and I think they had the Kubina and Lang, that was it. Lang's been shown and isn't a bad heel and the Kubina is basically an oar. It's a huge fatass Pat Verbeek-ish blade. Decent heel but the size is what always turns me away from it.

Lang doesn't have much loft, is ~6.5 lie and freakishly long. Not the cup of tea many would drink.

I can attest to that. Bought one from HM and after the 3 drop-in break in time I

still cant use the thing, so it now sits in my closet.

One of the things I like about the P91, drury etc. is the shape of the toe. How in the last 15-20 percent of the blade it is profiled so there seems to be more of the blade in contact with the ice, which is very nice for stickhandling in very close quarters.

Another thing is that my clappers seem to rocket off the blade when I dont even take a hard shot.

I actually just talked to my buddy last night about a very similar phenomenon that happens with one of the guys I play with. My buddy (an old TPS/Sherwood rep) said that curves that look like they hook way off to the left (on a right hand blade) and have significant loft at the heel (basically im describing a wedge with a dramatic hook at the heel, which puts the toe way in front of the heel) are known as "slingshot" curves. He said that guys that are big shooters (D-men)use this kind of thing, since it really makes your backhand pretty useless. It does get some serious heat on the slappers though. He told me how Big Al MacInnis used something like this and how he always preferred to be on his forehand side on the point due to the curve and how tough it made it to play on his backhand.

Sorry for the tangent, (1)just thought it had some relevance to the quoted post (2)I found this interesting and (3)I wondered if anyone else had heard of this.

You may want to be more specific, like what brand at least, because there are a shit-ton of players who use the YP pattern. That's why Easton released it as the Drury.

speaking of ribiero patterns, just switched to it and wow, it is pretty sweet. came from spezza (retail) composites and this thing is great. a little shorter blade, square toe, a little higher lie....what more could a 6'3" Dman want??? First time on the ice with it I roofed 2 pretty good tallys. I have a feeling this pattern has a future on the end of my dolo's

i have a feeling they dont!

Zac, I know where you are going with that statement, however I just picked up a dozen V-hex to tide me over until there is something close in a tapered blade again.

Does anyone know a pro-stock patten that's like a drury but with a neutral face?

Sligthly more curve than a drury would be awesome as well.

I like heels for stickhandling and passing, but I dislike the open face most of them seem to have have.

Sherwood PM Bouchard is probably the closest I can think of in a retail pattern, unless I'm mistaken.

Bingo. Just sold one, it was about a 1/2", big blade, neutral face all the way through. Heel, not mid-heel.

Hmm just saw a good pic of the Bochard, is there a curve that's a little more mid-heel and has a little more curve (the bouchard is pretty straight) in the toe area?

Not that I know of, but if you find one, let me know. I'd love a slight mid-heel with a bit of a kink at the toe.

Yeah Mack, I have a Synergy SL Guerin Pro stock, and I absolutely love it. The other sticks I have are a CNT Stealth Drury, a vapor XXXX P91 Staal pattern, and a Sher-Wood RM9 in the Regher pattern, which is a close clone to the Drury, but the Guerin surpasses them all, IMO. I am on my second one, and would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to get ahold of one or two more. If anyone has any lying around, PM me.

What RBK curve would be most like the Drury?

P32 I think

I'm pretty sure thats the phaneuf and i thought the phaneuf was a mid curve though?

Isn't the Phaneuf the monster Lidstrom-y looking thing? I don't think Rbk has a comparable Drury-ish pattern in their retail line.

Yeah it looks more like a lidstrom than a drury.
