canucks oilers end of games fights

Recommended Posts

anyone else catch the end of the game tonight after the EN goal....basically each puck drop till the end of the game was a fight.

I'm sure the coaches, the refs, everyoen int he building could tell after the first few fights after the EN goal that each faceoff would result in a fight......so the question I'm posing is why didn't they just run the clock? Are they not allowed to?

I believe its against league rules to run the clock. The whole ordeal started because Burrows acted like a complete fagget after he scored his empty net goal. I hope he actually decides to drop them through all that shit talking, and get his ass kicked.

The game started off with pointless fighting, might as well end with it. Terrible game all the way around.

What, by raising his arms after he put in the insurance on a very hard fought, important, and close game?

I'm assuming that Staios winding up around his head and two handing him as he scored was totally okay, though, right?

Who the fuck celebrates an empy-netter? I think a Wing did in one of the Cup clinchers but that'd be about the only exception.

It put away a close game that was a huge win for the canucks. I'd imagine there might have been a bit of rubbing it in, as well, as Staios had just wound up over his head and two-handed him over the arms. I just don't get how people are making it out like the sprinted down the ice rolling on his back and whatnot like he was Theo Fleury and he just won a playoff game in OT. He stood there and raised his arms.

It's an empty-netter in a game with at least one team, but probably two teams, that won't be around for the playoffs.

Did you watch the game? It was a war from the opening faceoff. You can't really fault a guy for getting into it, especially considering how big that win is for the Canucks.

Being a Canucks fan, I've become a glutton for close games where we get outshot but win because of Luongo and timely goals. But watching the whole game, and outside of the pointless fighting, you have to admit that it was a good physical game. Definitely not a Penguins vs. Tampa Bay kind of affair.

And yes, Burrows was a douche for celebrating,

Patrik Stefan would have if he could.

That man speaks the truth.

Burrows is a third liner, let him have his moment.

Mostly I saw two bad teams that would rather try and hurt each other than try to score goals. Toughness without talent isn't really impressive to me.

Agreed, Burrows has no class doing something like that, nothing wrong with what Stoll did.

that was the most intense game ever, being in the stadium was almost exactly like a playoff game, the actual play of the game was pretty bad, but i don't think i've seen the sedins throw their body around like they did last night. daniel was actually hitting people, or at least trying, physical contest for sure

Obviously as a Canucks fan I'm biased on this matter. However, I don't see why you're all chirping Burrows for raising his arms. It's a one goal game, the Oilers have come close to tying it up, and he scores an empty netter and procedes to put his arms up...that's it. It wasn't much of a celebration. Then Stoll comes skating by a few seconds later and like a jerkoff throws a shot at him. I'm glad Burrows reacted to it.

As far as being two teams that won't be in the playoffs, that's a bit premature. The Canucks have basically been playing since Christmas with two NHL defenceman. Even with a ridiculous number of injuries, they had managed to stay at the top of their division. They struggled a lot through January and part of February, but they're playing better and now that they have a boatload of injured players starting to return to the lineup, they should be able to get to and stay in a playoff position.

i was glad kesler got that shot in the mouth too. cant stand that guy, matt cooke, or burrows. but they all get cult status here in the van area because theyre chippy and piss people off. I just think theyre marginal players. a less talented claude lemiuex.

Whoa, come on now. They're aggressive and chippy, but none of them are close to being the cheapshotting douchebag that Claude Lemieux was.

Cooke is definitely on the dirty side from time to time. Unfortunately he seems to only have two gears. In one, he's completely invisible and useless. In the second, he's full of energy, hits a lot, and unfortunately goes a little over the top sometimes. It'd be nice to see him back it up a little more. I completely agree with people that say this.

Burrows is a different story. He's an agitator, but I don't think anyone would call him dirty. He plays very hard, takes the body, and works to get under people's skin. He's a chirper and a pest, but not a dirty player. I like the way he has been playing this year. The guy actually has some skill too when he gets the chance to demo it. Check out a few of the goals he's scored this year. They're few and far between, but there are some beauties.

Kesler is a little different from both of the previous two. He is definitely a more skilled player. He is also definitely NOT a dirty player. The guy works his ass off and goes straight at anyone. He's a fantastic checker and that combined with his work ethic and hard nosed style really pisses off other teams top players and defencemen. I think he's a more edgy, albeit far far less skilled version of Simon Gagne.

Also, that was ridiculous there was no penalty on that shot to the mouth he took. That was a blatant elbow.

When he's your guy he's an agitator, when he's on the other team he's dirty.
