mack 44 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 I felt the need to create this.- When are the new episodes going to be released again? I can't stand this dumb strike. You mean the strike that was resolved a month ago?Yes, the same one whose effects will be felt for at least another year as some shows had entire seasons lost to it. That strike.

Habs21 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2008 The UK version pretty much destroys the US version but it's still really good (Ricky Gervais has to be the funniest person alive). My vote will go for Tim & Eric's awesome show for best show on tv haha :P

Habs21 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2008 haha well the first few shows of the US one are the exact same ones as the UK one so...obviously it IS funny. Carrell is funny but can't pull off what Ricky Gervais does. Difference of opinion, that's all. But having seen the office since 2001, the new one isn't as good. I'm not saying it's not funny because it is...but you don't feel as humiliated for Carrell in the show as you do for David Brent.
ljbaron 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 I think its more of their axcents (sp?) that makes it less funny. It may be the same jokes, just the way they say it/the tone of voice they use I find it to be less funny.
mack 44 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 It takes an evolved sense of humour to get British humour.

Habs21 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 Oh well, I'm sure they say the same thing about the US version over there. Now let's just wait until they make the US version of "Extras" that won't end up being half as good as the original. From what I saw from the US version of The Office, the scenarios seem to be too exagerated whereas the UK version is more like real life and just makes you uncomfortable as hell watching David Brent (especially in Season 2).I'm not being stupid here when I say this, I really wanna know for real...is it because americans can't understand the UK accent most of the time? I'm in Canada and I'll admit that my wife has a hard time understanding everything they say but she's gotten use to it because I watch a lot of British stuff. The american stuff just got boring to me. It just seems like they dumb down everything to get the laughs because people don't really wanna think too hard while watching tv.I'm not insulting Americans here, just the tv shows...or maybe I'm not catching the right ones on tv??? ultraman7k 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 I dunno, I prefer the US version to the UK one. Personally, I'm all about the brit humour. Then again, I did start watching the Brit version after I'd watched 3 seasons of the US one, and as uncomfortable as I felt watching the UK one, it did have it's moments...but for some reason, I could not get into it. Whether it lacked charm for me, it's kinda tough to say. However, as realistic as a documentary style the UK one is, I much prefer the over the top style US because the way I see it, it takes those moments you have in real life with co workers, and makes it all make sense. The UK one, just doesn't connect with me.
RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 There is a guy at work who saw the British one long before the US one, and thinks the Brit is HANDS DOWN funnier. I think it has a lot to do with which you see first. People who saw Gervais first like his version...people who see the US version like that.I've only seen a few epidoes, but since we're on the topic...Gervais' show "Extras" is very very funny too. And, remember an ill-fated show called Coupling a few years abck....Find the Brit version....God-damn hilarious. I think they could get away with more then US Networks would allow...so what was only hinted at on the US show was far more blunt on the British version. forbs02 20 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 Today at work a number of pranks from The Office have been played on people. One of the guys put my boyfriend's slinky from his desk in jello. Later on, he hid a phone in my office with the Rockin Robin from Andy Bernard's phone as the ringer. I was typing on my computer and I could not figure out where it was coming from. I kept trying to adjust the volume on my PC and was getting pretty frustrated. Finally I figured out it was him. Another co-worker and I just sent him a fax from his future self advising him not to turn gay because it turns out bad for him down the road :P
kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 What do you guys find funny about the office? Ive watched about half of it for the first time (the pilot episode), and while its pretty funny, its not hillareous.

Ive watched about half of it for the first time (the pilot episode), and while its pretty funny, its not hillareous.I don't find it hilarious like some people...I think it is a lot like the humour employed by Family Guy (although not NEARLY as extreme) Where Michael is SOOOOO sure that what he is doing is right, and you are SOOOO uncomfortable watching it unfold that you have to laugh at it.
